Wife was changing the band (Fitbit Brand) on her Versa and the one end was stuck and she asked me for help. At first I thought it had bent and jammed, but ultimately I think the pin corroded in the lug hole and ultimately broke off flush with the lug.
I hadn't realized that the case was metal until I was trying to work the pin out of the lug hole. The pin should be stainless and the case says aluminum. If I were to guess, there was a bit of reaction between dissimilar metals. Add some sweat and the pins "rusts" in place.
I tried using a sewing needle. WD40 to help with the corrosion. An Exacto knife to try an pry it out.
I suppose I could go to a watch shop after this Covid thing settles down...see if they can remove it or drill it out. Even though if the aluminum is corroding.
Anyone have any suggestions or would FitBit be so kind as to provide options? I'd hate to waste a perfectly good fitness device due to a tiny piece of metal. Looks like it was purchased through our companies health plan in May 2019.
