Since Versa 3 requires a subscription to a streaming service and I can't make playlists any longer, I really need music controls to skip the crap music picked for me. It is really sucky to have to cancel an exercise routine in order to open the music app again and skip the songs I dislike.

@SunsetRunner Hello! You can set the music controls to a shortcut on your Versa 3 and it won't cancel your exercise. To set the controls, swipe left to Settings. Then tap on Shortcuts, then Press & Hold and then choose Music Controls as the shortcut. Now, when you press and hold the side button of your Versa 3, it will pop open the general music controls and it won't cancel the exercise.
However, this only works with music being played from your phone and will not work for Pandora or Spotify streaming directly from the Versa 3.

So this doesn't really help then. I got the Versa 3 so I wouldn't need to carry my phone with me on runs. Plus, if I played music from my phone it wouldn't be stuff I wanted to skip.

@SunsetRunner Unfortunately, Spotify and Pandora are treated as apps on the Fitbit device. Music controls are not. I believe that is why you can't run the exercise app and Spotify/Pandora at the same time -- because only one app on the device can be opened at a time. Personally, I take my phone with me on all my runs/walks for safety reasons, but I understand not wanting to bring it.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
