Please add option to use Fitbit Pay to buy apps from the Fitbit Store instead of 3rd Party sites

Hi Fitbit team,

I am a fairly happy owner of a Fitbit Versa 2, and also a fitness tracker by another company.

Although with the fitness tracker of the rival company I am able to use their own secure <company> Pay to buy watch faces and apps securely.  However, unfortunately with the Fitbit Versa 2, Fitbit Pay is not enabled to buy watch faces and apps, and unfortunately the only option is to use the vendors own 3rd Party sites, which may not be secure.

All the major hardware manufacturers do use their own secure payment methods for watchfaces and apps, Apple uses Apple Pay, Google Android uses Google Pay, Samsung uses Samsung Pay. However Fitbit doesn't use Fitbit Pay, but instead customers have to risk in on 3rd Party sites.

This may discourage many Fitbit customers like myself from buying Fitbit watchfaces and apps, as it has myself, due to security reasons, even though the Fitbit watch faces and apps are very good.

Personally I do like very much Fitbit and its great range of products, and I am looking forward to getting paid Fitbit watchfaces and apps for my Versa 2, like I have for my other fitness tracker, but feel I have to wait until the Fitbit Pay secure method of payment is available.

With the Fitbit Pay enabled this will encourage many Fitbit customers like myself to buy Fitbit watchfaces and apps, but currently we cannot risk payment details on 3rd Party sites.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Kindest Regards,

Fitbit Versa 2 customer.

@Wulfric   This is a terrific idea.  I'm sure there are other users who would benefit from it.  The place to make your opinion known is to start a Feature Suggestion.  Sadly, it won't help me.  My bank doesn't participate in Fitbit Pay.  😢

Hi LZeeW,

Thank you for writing back with the very constructive comment, it is much appreciated.

This suggestion to have payments made by Fitbit Pay, instead of unknown and possibly unsecure 3rd Party apps, is not just for myself, but for other Fitbit customers, who feel they would like to buy Fitbit watch faces and apps, but don't want to compromise their security by paying using 3rd Party payment methods.

Using Fitbit Pay would not only be a secure method of payment, but also bring Fitbit more in line with industry leaders of fitness trackers like Apple, Google and Samsung which all use their own secure "<Company Name> Pay" systems to pay for their own watchfaces and apps, to allow their customers to buy in complete security.

I will now add this to the "Feature Suggestion" as you have recommended.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Kindest Regards,

Wulfric

(Fitbit Versa 2 customer).
