I have been using Fitbit products since about 2013. I've had new ones every year through health insurance and two Aria scales. I was a happy customer. I didn't have any issues. But now that I bought a Versa 2 in December of 2019 that has all changed. I've only had it for less than three months and the side button is faulty and the screen unresponsive. It's in cosmetically pristine condition as I've treated it well. I have had Apple Watches over the years too, which I also treat with a lot of care.
I opened a chat after I tried troubleshooting my Versa 2 over the last few days. I'm one of those people who likes to try everything before contacting support. I've read as much as I could. I do see that Versa 2 seems to be a faulty model. After spending about an hour on chat while I had to go through all the paces with them, I find out that the remedy is that I send it in and they send me a refurbished one back with "minor wear and tear". I have two problems with this:
1) The time for processing is weeks (like 3 or so).
2) The one I'm sending in is perfect-looking condition. I should receive a brand new one back.
They need to change their process. They should send you out a new one first. You send the faulty one back in the box the new one just came in. If you don't return the old one? They can charge your credit card. This is what Amazon does.
Just beware. The Versa 2 is FAULTY.

In what way is it faulty I haven't had one pro Ken with mine.

I explain in my post above that the button is faulty and the screen is unresponsive.

And as I explained, you have a rare case with thousands of Versa 2's

I have exact the same issue with mine. The watch will periodically restart through out the day and the longer I wear it the more unresponsive the touch screen becomes.
I want to send mine back but I'm not prepared to accept a refurbished model - I want a like for like replacement if the device is faulty.

You didn't explain anything. You're a cheerleader for fitbit. The Versa 2 is faulty. I've had several fitbits throughout the years, and two Aria scales. All have been great. The Versa is a lemon model. Fitbit company's warranty policy is poor by today's standards.

I've read lots of complaints about the Versa 2. I like how someone reported my original post. Probably the cheerleader for the Fitbit company who wrote an unintelligible response to my initial post.
I wonder if my post will be erased. I just stated the facts.

I also purchased my Versa 2 in December 2019 and have had nothing but problems with it. It would not sync, kept losing settings and finally lost 10 minutes of time before it went completely dead. I contacted customer service and they said I had to send it back at my expense ($12) and they would replace it. I expected a new device not a refurbished one. My confirmation also states replacement, new. It should arrive by March 5. This is not my first fitbit but I can't imagine buying another. Apple watch is looking pretty good to me right now. I am really disappointed.

I'd agree with the Versa 2 being a lemon also. I bought one in January 2019. The following issues:
1) Extremely inconsistent when it comes to counting stairs or comparative elevation gains.
2) Heart rate shuts off frequently, especially when exercising. What's the point of having the fitbit if it shuts down when it is actually needed? Completely inaccurate caloric burn calculations as a result. I clean it pretty regularly too so that shouldn't be a reason. It's bad enough that I want to fling it against the wall in disgust.
3) Hiking exercise feature horribly inconsistent when it comes to calculating distance, elevation, steps, etc. So crappy that one time I didn't even bother applying an exercise mode to a hike I did. And guess what? It recorded my hike as "swimming". Now how absurd is that?
In reflection, this is kind of what I get for going cheap and buying American instead of Japanese or Korean electronics.

Rich_Laue Your responses are useless. It's like the Corona virus fallacy: "Only 2%" will die so who cares? Jeez.

Those of us that don't have a sugar Daddy or Mama care. $200.000 is a big chunk of money to most folks.

Me too - dead button and screen locked on "Set up Wallet".
This is the reason that I bought the Versa 2 at a store with an excellent return policy.
I'm taking it back tomorrow and will monitor this forum for improvements.

They’ve replaced my first one I had for under a year. Neither one of them work correctly. Calories will go backwards, the pulse shuts off on its own. It’s unreliable. I had an older Fitbit that was amazing and I wore it out until it literally fell apart. This version is terrible.
