I just got a new (or what I thought was new) Fitbit Versa from Target and when I went to open it, it was taped shut, like someone returned it and when I opened it there was someone else's data in it. I went to factory reset it and then it came up with the "data not cleared, sync and try again" error. I have nothing that the Versa was sync'd to. Help please.

Hi @kriley2016 did you buy it locally or was it mail order? Easiest way might be to return it to the store and get one that wasn't already open.
Directions from the help article: "To factory reset your device:
On your device, open the Settings app > About > Factory Reset or Clear User Data"

I bought it locally. I thought it might be the case. I have already tried to restart it and it didn't work. I'll be trying your other suggestions but the easiest might be just to return it. Thanks!

If it was me, I'd take it back and make sure the one you take home hasn't been opened up. You paid for new and you should get it. You might want to consider adding a two year warranty on it, too. We're here when you need us!
