Problems with Versa after swimming

I have had a Versa for just over 2 weeks and it has been working well until today when I went pool swimming fir the first time with it. After the swim (c.20 mins) I dried the watch and immediately saw that it was working erratically. It restarted itself numerous times, the touch screen stopped working (to taps and swipes), the buttons only worked intermittently and within 30 mins the battery was dead. This cannot be normal after a swim. I am assuming the water seals are faulty but wanted to check with Support before requesting an exchange.

@Smurphy84

My friend and I bought ours the same day April 2018, both went swimming weds night (regular pool not salt water) and both woke up to non functioning trackers.

Yes outside of the warranty but

I WOULD STILL HAVE A WORKING TRACKER IF I DIDN'T GO SWIMMING UNDER THE BELIEF THAT I COULD!

And they want to offer a dismal discount on another faulty tracker?

I first swam with mine in the ocean, for about a week. Next went in a saline water pool and it died that night. Fitbit replaced that. Now taking the replacement watch in a chlorinated pool, I bought it to track laps so I'm seeing how long this one lasts. At first with the replacement I wouldn't take it in the water then thought , what's the point, its supposed to be able to go in the water. So we will see how long this one lasts. Back to your point though, I am curious if it is the saline water that is the issue. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy , an AT&T LTE smartphone

They didn’t even offer me a discount. They told me I was out of luck.

I've heard Garmins are a better quality.  It is disappointing the number of people that post their Versa stops working after swimming.

I only had mine two months when it died after swimming so they didn't give me a problem replacing mine.  Although if this one dies I'll be trying Garmin.  I've heard they are better quality.

Does the watch you recommend track swimming?

Great - thank you.

I filed mine on night shift last night and just got an email saying it's been approved and escalated.

Apparently, it's pool proof, not ocean water proof.

Lol it is not pool proof either. My friend and I both lost ours to a pool in the same night. I don't think it's coincidence!

Sounds like from all of the posts it's just not waterproof. People have posted it dies after ocean, chlorine and saline pools. It's the luck of the draw. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy , an AT&T LTE smartphone

So squeeky wheels DO get the grease. Good for you and well done. Hope your
replacement works like mine finally did. (Salt pool and shower only if
anyone is wondering).

Mine will never see water.

Be patient, it was someone from Fitbit who contacted me through email. He said there was an “unusual” amount of complaints. Keep fingers crossed. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Well done to you. I’m guessing you’re not going to swim with it though.
Have fun.

Nope, new one will never touch any water. The email said replacement is void of any warranty.

It was in a salt water pool that mine died. One swim. It had been in the ocean before that. The replacement has been in a chlorinated pool. Its water that causes the issue. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy , an AT&T LTE smartphone

Bit of a shame eh? Apart from the water problem I really like the versa
especially the notifications.
Anyway. Have a great day.

Exactly! If I had known if wasn't waterproof I would have never swam with it.

How would you know?  They claim it I'd ok in water and have a swim tracker?  Not good businessSent from my Samsung Galaxy , an AT&T LTE smartphone
