I have had a Versa for just over 2 weeks and it has been working well until today when I went pool swimming fir the first time with it. After the swim (c.20 mins) I dried the watch and immediately saw that it was working erratically. It restarted itself numerous times, the touch screen stopped working (to taps and swipes), the buttons only worked intermittently and within 30 mins the battery was dead. This cannot be normal after a swim. I am assuming the water seals are faulty but wanted to check with Support before requesting an exchange.

Exactly. I've had 2 die in a total of 4 monthsSent from my.
I went in the water with my replacement to see if thay would hold up. It did not, it died after two months just like my first one. I'll go in the water with the third one go see how long that holds up in the water. I paid $200 for a watch with a swim function that is advertised go be able to swim and track in the water. If this one dies in a short period I'll call back and create a stink. Once they stop replacing it I'll go to Garmin. A $200 watch should last more than 2 months. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy , an AT&T LTE smartphone

Went swimming ...
it's dead. Completely. It's off the twig. It's kicked the bucket. It's shuffled off its mortal coil. Run down the curtain and joined the bleedin choir invisible. This is an ex-Fitbit Versa.
I bought this because it's allegedly waterproof. We have a pool--I swim every day. If I can't actually wear it swimming, it's useless.
Anyone know what kind of tracker I need? Clearly not a Fitbit.
What a waste of money.

I love my garmin vivoactive hr for swimming. It tracks swimming by arm movements so if you do leg work with a kick board it won't track it.

I tend to agree , complete BS ,, I am on my third Versa , that is right they have replaced it three times under warranty because of this! Last night this last replacement stopped working in the shower. I give up, like many I bought this solely for the water resistance. I have a Blaze I have never had problems With. But I had an HR that had to be replaced twice due to the band and now the Versa. I didn’t want to buy from another company but I think I will have to!

sorry to hear that, i have had issues with the versa and also after 16 months with a ionic. Happily both were replaced with new once by the retailer. I now use the versa2 for swimming once a week , and wear the ionic the rest of the week. So have your watch replaced by a new one and choose a versa2.

I wore my Versa in the ocean twice this week. The screen went black after placing it on the charger, and it is no longer working. I originally thought I didn't charge it long enough, but after the second night of it going black, I realize this is a malfunction. I replaced my Charge 2 this year after requiring another new band. This is quite disappointment. Now I have to go through the process of getting it repaired/replaced. I am not sure how to manage not having one at all until it is repaired.

I was also very disappointed with this I too faced similar problem and though fitbit team didn't acknowledge but looks like they have an issue with using in water.Fortunately mine was in warranty and am getting replacement after chasing them for a month or so.
hows your vivoactive doing ? Are you happy with that as I too am planning to shift to Garmin

Help if you know a trick or DIY solution.
During these tough times, when most of us are working out from home, I need my Fitbit to work the way it's advertised.
I am on my 4th Fitbit Versa (Lite and Versa 2) in 1 year!
They do not hold up in water. I am a water runner and I keep sending them back to the company for replacements. The replacements work for a while, but like the rest of you said, they ultimately die.
I am so frustrated because I sync my Fitbit with Peloton digital and I really want this to work.
I am waiting now to hear back from Fitbit - again.

I didnt go swimming with my versa I had a shower. Now my versa wont work....waterproof my **ahem**!!! This is my second so called waterproof versa, my first one lasted a day when I went swimming it filled with water and wasn't fixable. Now I dont have warranty and my second Fitbit has ruined because of getting wet. I'm very disappointed in this company as it appears they lie about their products...

I know this is an old thread but just wanted to add my experience. I’ve had the versa lite for couple years, but went swimming today with it for the first time and immediately got the black screen. Now it won’t turn on, reading through the thread seems my only option is to leave Fitbit entirely as an employee hasn’t responded yet.

I just wanted to add that my Versa did the same, swam laps one day and it was great the next day after getting out I noticed the Heart Rate monitor was acting strange, large spikes in my heart rate then not reading anything. I restarted it several times to no avail, then I put it on the charger, when I went back to get it the screen was black. It hasn't come on since. Support has been useless because it's out of warranty. I'm sorry but a product that is advertised to be able to do swim tracking that can't handle the swimming is garbage and not a fault of the customer. All they offered was a discount on a new fitbit, they have lost a customer because I won't be buying another one with their garbage support.

Unfortunate I did not read this earlier. I also went swimming with my Versa and it died. What's is disheartening is that the product is advertised for swimming when it cannot be used as such. And the Consumer service "play" ignorance when you report the problem and pretend to offer help. This is a scam. No one should buy. There are cheaper alternatives available. I'm very disappointed.
