RESOLVED 6/13/18: Versa not getting Message+ msgs

I cannot get text notifications on my Versa if I use Message+ app. If I switch to Whatsapp, notifications work on my Versa. But not many of contacts use WhatsApp. Does anyone else use Message+ for texting? If so, does it work with your Versa? Screenshot

Hi, everyone!

 

Yesterday on 6/13, we fully released the Fitbit for Android app version 2.73. Please update the app if you haven't already. This app version contains the fix so that you are able to receive your Message+ messages again. Please let me know how it goes!

@rroark Welcome! It's nice to have you on board! Thank you for the screenshot you shared sadly it didn't show on my computer. Not sure why this may be happening but you can try refreshing the link between your phone and Versa to see if this helps resolve the issue. Start by going to the bluetooth settings and remove all devices including your Versa. Restart your phone and then restart your Versa by doing the following:

 

 1.- Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
2.- Let go of the buttons.
3.- If your Fitbit watch doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my Fitbit device? to turn your watch off and on again. 
 
After this go to the Fitbit app and enable notifications again and re-select the Message+ app Make sure you have the Always connected feature on.

Recently, my Versa no longer receives text message notifications. However, it will receive notifications from apps, emails, and calls. This only began happening yesterday and hadn't been an issue before. I've attempted restarting phone, uninstalling and reinstalling Fitbit app, impairing and repairing versa, and went through the troubleshoot list with a Fitbit rep but no luck. I'm using a GS7 Edge with Verizon. Help!

Thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself. If you haven't take a look at the My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone article, I recommend checking it and follow the instructions provided there.

My new Versa receives notification accept for text notifications. I went through all the steps in the link you posted.

No luck either. I followed all the steps. This issue didn't come up until I updated my Versa a few days ago. Could the update have affected the ability to receive text notifications?

I have been having the same issue since I updated my Versa on Friday, 5/4/18.  I was receiving all notifications (text, app, call) that I had it set up to send from my phone (Galaxy S7 w/Verizon) to my Versa.  Then all of a sudden, I stopped receiving text notifications, but still receive all other notifications that I have set up (apps, calls).  I have spoken to Fitbit customer support on the phone and via email over the past few days, and they said they are working on resolving the issue.  I have gone through every troubleshooting option that I have found online or that has been suggested by customer support via phone or email, but I'm still having the same problem.  I asked to customer support if the problem could be caused by some sort of glitch with the update that I installed last week.  They never really answered that question and just kept asking me to try several different troubleshooting options (many of which I had already tried on my own to no avail), but personally, I think it has to do with the update because nothing else has changed between when it was working and when it stopped working, and it seems to be a pretty straightforward "it worked, I did the update, then it didn't work" type of situation.

I have tried everything and super frustrated. The versa is great but iI hav wasted so much time in it I am throwing in the towel.they should have worked out the bugs before they released it

I just received a 2nd Versa because 1st one had issues with battery drain but all notifications worked.  Just got new versa and after setup all notifications work except text messages from Message +.

Using Samsung S7 Edge.....as mentioned was working fine until I got new Versa.... Possibly the new update on new Versa created the issues. 

 

Lastly, can they update that you can still receive notifications when phone is on silent.  I keep my phone on silent which is the reason I wanted a smartwatch.

Update your Fitbit App to 2.71. It has vibrate option when in 'do not disturb' or 'silent' mode.

I wouldn't throw in the towel on the Versa. It is by far the best smartwatch I have had and I am looking forward to all the future updates, but this has to be a side effect of the latest update that was done. I was also getting ALL my notifications until the latest update, when I stopped getting text notifications. AlejandraFitbit, you may need to inform the IT folks that the latest Versa update has some issues that need to be fixed with the text notifications.

Are you guys using the message+ app for texting? That is the app I had and since the update it no longer works. I switched my texting app and it works now. I like message+ better so hopefully that gets fixed soon!

Yes, I use Message+. But I also tried switching back to the Samsung Message
app and it still didn't work for me.

One probably super obvious thing I discovered is that I must have location on my phone turned on in order to receive text notifications on my Fitbit. I often have location off on my phone to extend battery life on the phone. Interestingly I did receive phone call notification with location off on my phone. Curious if others are seeing this. I have only had the Versa a few days and it has been a learning experience.

I am having the same issue.  It was working just fine until the last update.  Now I can not get notifications on Versa.  when I check, it just says you are all caught up.  I have tried all the suggestions, reboots, restarts, uninstalling, reinstalling, location, etc.  Nothing.  Please fix soon!!!

I switched from the (red) message icon to the (yellow) icon and unpaired
and repaired and uninstalled app and reinstalled app and made sure all
permissions were okay and FINALLY it worked. I do like the other message
app better so I hope they get the glitch fixed. Maybe this will work for
you. I am so annoyed that I wasted SO MANY HOURS on this. They should have
worked out the bugs first!!!
