I followed your suggestions and the duplicate exercise recognition hasn't happened again. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

 

My fitness score is still listed as 42 (Fair), and hasn't changed in the last two weeks. I find this odd, since I (28M) have run with GPS connected ten times in the past two week, including a 23min 5K and a 36 min 7.5K. My resting heart rate is 58 bpm and I am 5'10, 175 lbs.

 

I know that's nothing to write home about but isn't it on the fitter side of average?
