Red light on Versa back is staying lit all the time

Red light on all the time on the back of my Fitbit versa is staying lit all the time. The battery dies very quickly and it gets very warm at times. I have tried restarting it, turning the heart rate function off and back on like I read but nothing has helped. Any help/advice would be appreciated as I rely on my Fitbit a great deal. Thank you.
