Replacing Blaze with Versa

Hey folks,

How many of you changed from a Blaze to a Versa and what were your thoughts?

I like the Blaze.  It has its challenges, the number one issue being that running with it the touchscreen stays active and it can terminate a run mid way through it is detects a false touch (wet sleeve for example).  The battery life is also not great.

I understand the battery life is going to be in the same ballpark?

Have you folks who run had the issues with a wet sleeve terminating your run on the Versa?

What are your general thoughts?

thanks

I am no longer a runner, but I would say the Versa is leaps and bounds better than the Blaze. However, the screen does respond to touch so I would say you will likely see the same results. A better solution would be to try to isolate it from the sleeve during a run.

Hi, @HowardSH! The Blaze was my absolute favorite until the Versa came out. You're going to find some of the same experience with it, as you mentioned, the battery life is about the same (5+ days for me). However, the screen has much better resolution and there are features, like leaving the screen on during workouts, that the Blaze didn't have. I still use my Blaze as a beater for higher risk activities, which are mostly the ones that will also have something bang against the screen and pause the activity, but by-and-large, I've noticed less issues with the Versa pausing for me than the Blaze. It does still happen occasionally. I much prefer the form factor and the screen resolution on the Versa, but if you're just getting it so that your runs won't pause, I'm not sure if it's the best upgrade for you. One thing you could also consider doing is adding a second tracker, like the Charge 3 to your account and using that for running. It's got the button on the side to start and stop workouts, so it wouldn't have the touch issue, and it still has the connected GPS.

Thanks both of you for your responses.  I might hold off for now, it seems like there are still too many teething problems with this one.

That's exactly what I did. The main reason I did it was for water sports. The Versa is supposed to be waterproof and so far has proved to be, even when the home button fell out. While I do like its updated style and smaller size, I think the screen is even more responsive to touch so it wont solve your wet sleeve issue. One thing I did find, is that the screen is easier to scratch. I do wish there was some sort of protector that you could add for a little better durability.
