Shake Gesture to Wake

I would love if additional gestures could be used to wake the watchface. The default one works okay, but if I'm laying down, or if I'm sitting at a desk with my arms vertical, turning my wrist doesn't always work.

The Pebble had a shake gesture that could be used to wake the watch face. That would be perfect if it could be added to the Versa.

@SunsetRunner I can see why that would be a good idea and why it wouldn't. Sometimes you're waving at someone or drumming, or jumping roping or something it would wake and wouldn't be good but you can suggest it here.

Most product teams will think it's a good idea if enough customers want it. As it was a standard feature on Pebble watches, a large number of people here will probably expect it to work.

What's most disconcerting is that the feature has actually been implemented on the Versa, but it doesn't work consistently. This is bad news for the platform. It speaks to either immaturity in the power management API or weakness in the underlining event management framework. It means that there is probably a mountain of tech debt in the code. Fitbit will have to make choices between fixing the technical debt and implementing new features.

tl;dr: expect buggyness to continue.

Really! I can't wake my Versa by shaking. Any more info?

That would be a great idea! I find the default wake gesture to be quite hit and miss compared to other smartwatches I've owned.

Someday I hope battery tech improves so that they can have an always on screen, that would sort the issue for good.
