My wife and me want the versa 2. But with a lot of users complaining about the original versa in regards to

  • Cracking screens
  • Battery going bad after a few months
  • Wonky overshooting heart rates during activity
  • Buggy watch software (double drawings) which aren't solved buy reset
  • Unable to pair watch after fitbit software update on phone
  • Notifications stop working (reboot required)
  • Spo2 sensor not activated as advertised (also on the charge 3)

None of these complaints are single user problems, yet i cannot find any official statements from fitbit about this.

So @Fitbit. Did you take actions on any of these problems regards to the versa 2?

Speaking of waterproof, mine shut down for good today after only being in the pool for a few minutes.I had just charged it. I had it for 13 months.

I’m with you, NellyG.  I’ve had my first Versa since they became available and have been extremely happy with it.  I have already preordered a new Versa 2.

That’s great to hear a positive comment about the Fitbit Versa. Thanks.

I generally like my Fitbit. I just think they need to make it better as far as the app goes and I’ve had problems and not had the solutions answered adequately, etc. It does what it is supposed to do generally, I just wish it was better. I hope the new one will be.

Disappointed with the Versa support... or lack there of. My heart is either inaccurate or absent. Truly frustrating. Apple, here I come.

I think what Apple people know, is their products just work! For most people, there is a flow to its software, and while their telephone support people are not always the most knowledgeable, between the Apple Store if you can get to one, and thousands of articles, forums, etc., you can get things cleared up pretty easily, if you need some guidance.

I just went on a walk. The heart rate was all over the place, much higher than it should be, and I kept it snug on the skin as recommended. When I got home and was resting with a heart rate of 60, it picked it up accurately, but even as soon as I had gone on my walk, it was reading around 126, and my HR does not reach even 80, max.

So with no real answer on my question from fitbit and the problems at fitbit seems to keep piling up, I have decided to go with a Garmin VivoActive 4. At least the spo2 sensor works 😉
In fitbit defence, the spo2 sensor consumes 6%/hr on battery on the vivoactive 4 and you have to be perfectly still and bring your arm a heart-level for it to measure. So I disabled it anyway. Might activate it during sleep in the future for more metrics.

Screen is a transflective type, so always on without power. The colors are awefull though. But once you get used to it, you see right past it.

Besides from the battery drain with spo2 on, I had no problems at all. The android app works, notifications work (this might be new to some of you ;)). OS is non-intuitive though, learning curve for the OS is high, but as with the screen, once you know it, it is fine.

I know it is in a different price range, but at least I have a peace of mind and not have to continuously staring at my phone to see if I missed a notification. I hope fitbit steps up for you, this is goodbye for me.

I have the versa 2, changed from the Charge 3 and I'm already having issues. It's crashing constantly during workouts. Would not recommend from my experience anyways.

@fallenwout transflective display is great and sometimes not that great. I own two watches which have such screen and what I like about it is that I can see everything in the very bright sunlight. When I cycle, I clip the watch to the handlebars and can see everything nice and clear. Using Garmin turn-by-turn navigation is great. However, the problem appears in the dark. I can't see a thing on my watch and need to turn the backlight on which isn't that great (it's not an AMOLED quality). But I agree, I also prefer well-functioning device meeting my requirements rather than pretty looking thing that has nothing to offer (at least I have working REAL Spotify support).

I was just browsing comments on the versa 2 and just needed to state my experience with Apple. My iPad developed a fault. Apple offered me a small discount on a new unit. I opened the old iPad and repaired it (a faulty 3G module). I posted this on their forums in case it helped anyone else. Their moderators removed my post!

And my iPhone was great, or so I thought. Except when you wanted to make a call. It turned out that the phone calling part stopped working after a few days after a restart. It looked like it was working, but needed another restart EVERY time I wanted to make a call.

So don't think Apple are untouchable in support or quality.

I’m awaiting a replacement Versa right now in hopes that it will read my HR more accurately. The one I sent back was as much as 20 beats too high at times. The only time it was accurate was if I was either sitting or moving at a VERY slow pace. I was doing I think 3 mph on the treadmill and it was 20 beats off. This was at cardiac rehab so I was wired to an ekg monitor which I KNOW is accurate. So at this point, if accurate HR is important to you I’d pass.

Also if you want to use Fitbit pay, make sure your bank is on the list. I bought mine in 2018 thinking my bank would be on board shortly and they’re still not participating and I’m in the US where there are a lot of participating banks.
