Skipping/Choppy Music playback

I have tried multiple Bluetooth speakers and headphones, I have tried both wrists, I have even placed the Versa directly in front of the Bluetooth speakers - no matter what the music sounds like a record skipping and it’s HORRIBLE!!!!! I can play music from my iPhone to the same Bluetooth devices with zero issues, but from my Versa it’s a disaster. I’m a kids Yoga teacher and use music during my classes a lot to help engage the kids...I was excited to be hands free/no phone while I teach. Very disappointed in FitBit and going there’s is a fix. Please don’t tell me to restart the device or unpair the Bluetooth, done that. Did noting

Whilst I totally agree with you, it seems to favour better quality bluetooth headphones. I'm happy with having something that now works for the gym...I would fight for reimbursement but let's ne honest they have known about this issue for quite a while now and still on done anything to fix it. I cannot be bothered with the hassle.

I recently received the Versa 2 as a gift and got a pair of JBL headphones and having the same issue with the music cutting in and out.  I have tried the headphones with just streaming music with my iPad and they work great.

I never could get mine to work right so I finally just gave up. I definitely would have thought Fitbit would have fixed this issue on the Fitbit Versa 2.

I am glad that you are able to listen to music. I may have to give in and buy a better quality of headphones. I agree with you that Fitbit has known about the issue for a while and still have done nothing to correct this.

Hey DnC,

I'm wondering if i try to load fewer songs. I loaded 318 which takes up about all the space. I am going to try fewer songs to see if works.

I am very disappointed with this function of my FitBit Ionic. I have tried everything.
I deleted all the apps, leaving only the native ones besides Deezer.
Transfer only one mp3 song and the song is skipping. Already tried to download a small playlist from Deezer and the same problem occurs. I am very disappointed. And I see that this problem has been going on for over 1 year.

Please, give us good news! After one and half year...

I am having this issue

I am very unhappy

I have dozens of Bluetooth headsets and speakers and I've tried each one and the issue persists, so the issue is not the output device

I've factory reset the versa a couple of times and loaded just 2 songs, and it is choppy intermittently, so annoying

so it is not other apps since there are none, it's not space since it's supposed to hold hundreds of songs and I've only loaded 2, it's not the music files since the choppiness is intermittent

It's the Versa. So what is the solution since it was sold to me as supposed to play music

Best Answer

Sorry she said she did a factory reset, at the very least that beats a reboot

I have done a reset, reboot, nothing on the Versa but 2 tracks, and tried with 5 different headsets but each time a different track plays like kangaroo.

This issue should be big font on the packaging, not something I discover a year after buying the watch (I have been too poorly to need to use the music till recently but now I'm back on the road, very disappointed)

Also I wasted so much money on headsets thinking I just needed a more expensive headset

I have 2 tracks and it's still choppy

The issues are with the Versa 2

I only have 33 songs loaded right now and still have this issue. It has something to do with the Bluetooth connection. I agree with many others that it comes down to using high quality (aka expensive) headphones. I’m going to save up for a pair of Bose true wireless. Seems like those have been said to work most frequently on various threads like this one.

Bought a Versa 2 about a week ago and started using the music function only two days ago and to my surprise my Bluetooth Earphones didn’t work well. I swopped it out for another pair and it was much worse.

Went in to the shop today and asked if I can test the earphones first. Went through about 3 pairs of which 2 worked crystal clear with no choppiness.

If I am not mistaken it has something to do with the Bluetooth Version and Profile. Version 4.0 CSR devices seem to work well.

Has nothing to do with price range or quality as i tested with a cheap bluetooth speaker and it also worked amazing.

So don’t bother with the restart and unpair and all that. It does not fix it. It is the bluetooth version and profile that matters.

I didn't have any issue with bluetooth headphones and Versa for nearly six months.  Everything worked fine until the most recent firmware upgrade.  Ever since then the music has been choppy/skipping as being reported by everyone else.  I've tried two different headphones and no change.  Like others have reported, if there is ANYTHING in the way between the fitbit and the bluetooth device (ie my arm), the music is choppy/skippy.  If I turn my wrist (so there is literally a line of sight between the fitbit and the headphone), music fine.

I'm not sure what was in the latest firmware, but they need to roll it back to take care of this issue.

I have done all of this including factory reset and the music is STILL choppy!!! The option for music was the only reason why I bought the versa 2!! I think I'm going to return it.. what a disappointment especially since it costs $200!!!!

Bluetooth v5.0 was an issue for me so I tried Plantronics headset with bluetooth v4.1, it works perfectly. Maybe try a bluetooth headset that isn't 5.0.

I'm not too sure how to check if it is a 5.0 lol

Thank you all for you comments.
Interestingly enough, as I had stated, this all started after I received a
firmware upgrade of my Versa from fitbit. I recently received another
firmware upgrade which has since corrected the issue. Hopefully this one
lasts.

I've read in the forum's that this issue has been happening since 2018(if not longer) I just bought mine 2 days ago.. brand new from the store.. you would really think they would have fixed this issue! I'm a little pissed because the music option was the only reason I bought it 😠
