Hey, I've had my Fitbit since Monday and it logs my sleep but not the sleep stages? I have removed the app on my phone and re-installed it, re added my Fitbit (twice) and changed the sleep time started (read this online but no luck!). Any ideas would be great!

I had this same issue and found that my watch band was to tight. Like the three little bears, it can't be to tight or to loose but just snug enough.

Had my Fitbit Charge 4 since Christmas Day - yay! - and after the first night the sleep stage produced a nice wee graph of sleep stages. Nifty. The next two nights there was no nice graph, just the basic info, which was disappointing.
However, for the last two nights I've switched off the bluetooth on my phone before I go to sleep to see if that would help and it seems to have fixed the problem, back to having nice wee graphs of sleep stages. Once my phone's bluetooth synch's back up it takes a few minutes to generate the graph, but it seems an easier fix than all that faffing with logs.

Nope. That's not it. Back to basics again. Ugh.

Sometimes I get sleep stats and sometimes just the basics. It seems random. Possibly based on a sleep position I work my way into during the night. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. It is just plain frustrating.

How do you turn your heart rate off and back on?

I do not agree that this is the best answer. I have never used the "begin sleep now" option and have random results.

I had the same issue, bought the inspire 2 for sleep tracking, sleep stages showed up below the log on the first page after the first night but not on the following night. However it is in there, I can see it if I select the nights sleep log, then it goes to a page titled Today with 3 options, one of which is deep sleep and rem, select that and the stages graph is there, it just takes a few extra clicks.

It is not a unique issue. It is happening with me too. When I first got this the first 2 days it did show my REM sleep etc, but now even after trying all of the "fixes" I still don't have the graph that includes REM sleep.
