I recently bought the Versa. It is my 1st fitbit so I am still learning.
I noticed some days have sleep stages and some days I do not.
Should I not hit the"begin sleep now"button?

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. It's nice to have you on board @MZ_WEST, welcome to the Fitbit Community.
I appreciate some of you have come back and let me know the steps you've taken in order to resolve this issue related to Sleep Stages. Please note that we had an outage last week that had affected sleep and syncing and might have been the cause of the issues you were experiencing. The issue has now been resolved but in case you're still having trouble with Sleep Stages, please restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen and refer to my previous post.
@MZ_WEST, please note that is not recommended to hit "begin sleep now", instead let your Versa track your sleep. Sometimes, it's recommended to move your Versa a bit up on your arm and check that you're having a heart rate reading before falling asleep.
I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

Hi All,
Well I thought maybe the VERSA was now tracking sleep correctly but the last 2 nights it missed several hours. On Monday I slept from 11:30pm through 8am and it showed all the usual wakefulness/sleep activity during that time, except for 2 hours between 12:41am to 2:35am. Those 2 hours are just gone!
Also same happened last night, went to sleep at 12:30am and woke up at 8am, but, hours between 5 and 7am are missing!!
I have reset the VERSA several times and I am still using a 3rd party clock face called "Tiles". Hopefully something a software update can fix and not hardware related.

I'm having the same issue. My sleep was being tracked flawlessly by my Blaze. I just switched to a Versa, and it tracks the first and last 1hr 20min of sleep only.
I will try changing the clock face and resetting, per other posts.

After changing the clock face and restarting, the versa did not detect the first 3hrs of sleep, but detected the remaining 5hrs of sleep.
The heart rate graph looked consistent with 8hrs of sleep.

Hello @cmcparland and @midas51276, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Thanks for joining the conversation @cBitFit!
I appreciate your participation in the forums and your feedback about the sleep features on the Versa. We have received reports that using some 3rd party clock-faces might be affecting the sleep monitoring on the Fitbit Versa. At this moment I would like to ask you to reply to me with the name of the clock-face you're currently using and then change it to a Fitbit one, restart your Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen and monitor the watch for the next night. In case you're still having trouble with the sleep feature, please reply to me so I can determine which steps should we take next.
I hope this can be helpful, give it a try and let me know the outcome!

I was using Glide.
I just switch to fitbit one and I will restart my versa

I came from a Charge 2 HR which worked fine. The VERSA does not accurately start sleep tracking automatically like the Charge 2 HR. I do not want to have to manually start it. Please implement same logic and/or tune sensor readings so it works like our legacy products!

I've tried Stats, Prime, and FullChrono.
Will see if the new firmware helps.

With the 32.32.10.15 firmware, and the fitbit 'Stats' clock face, only the first 57min of sleep, and the last 3hr 3min of sleep were recorded yesterday.
During the multiple hr gap, no sleep was detected, but the heart rate data is continuous, and consistent with a 'sleeping' heart rate.
I never had large sleep gaps like this with my Blaze. So far the Versa has never correctly recorded my sleep.

Thank you @MarcoGFitbit for helping us eliminate the clock face as a factor. With the 32.32.10.15 firmware, and the fitbit 'Stats' clock face, my Versa sleep data still has large gaps.
Here is what I can observe about the gaps:
- during the sleep gap, the heart rate is low and consistent with the sleep previously recorded by my blaze, and the heart rate data has no gaps.
- during the sleep gap, there is an absence of 'steps', so the Versa doesn't think its user is [sleep] walking 🙂
Compared to the Blaze, the Versa has a different touch screen. Could the way the touch screen interacts with bed sheets, pillows, etc, be causing sleep not to be recorded. Is there any way a user can view a touch screen event log?
This current situation is frustrating for two reasons. 1) I prefer the Versa over the Blaze because of the awesome 3rd party clock faces. 2) The approach to correct the inaccurate sleep recording is focused on not using 3rd party clock faces...
If sleep is not being recorded, it must be the result of the presence and/or absence of certain events that the Versa is either recording, or looking for but not seeing. Seems like something the developers should be asked to debug. Can you help with that @MarcoGFitbit ?

I think you are on to something with the touchscreen.

I purchased a Versa on 4/27. The first and second night it worked just as well as my Charge 2 about recording my sleep and showing the advanced sleep stages with how much time spent in each sleep stage. Ever since then, this hasn’t been the case. I get the simplied version even though I am sleeping well over 3 hours. Another thing I notice is that it either starts recording my sleep a few hours after I did fall asleep. Or it stops recording my sleep well before I wake up. I have the sleep setting on normal.
Is is there anything that I am doing wrong? Or a setting that I missed? One of the reasons I purchased another Fitbit was how it tracked my sleep and displayed the advanced sleep stages. I’m considering returning the product.

I’m having the same issue. I have the default clock face “layers” and I have the app for the iPhone. I’ll either get the simplified sleep stages even though I’ve slept more than 3 hours. Or chunks of time dissappear. One night it said I fell asleep at 6am when I fell asleep around 2am. Another night, it said I woke up at 3am but didn’t wake up till 9am. It did this a couple of more times. I’ve only had it since 4/27/18. This never ever happened with the Charge 2. I’ve tried shutting down my Versa several times, wearing the band tighter than normal or looser than normal and still no luck. I’m extremely disappointed. I chose the Versa over another product due to my experience with the Charge 2 and the price point as well as the other item in question didn’t have built in sleeep tracking, it requires a 3rd party app. I’m very close to returning the Versa an putting the money off to the side to save up for a completely different product. Is Fitbit aware of this issue?
