I am having the same sleep issue. Last two nights it shows I sleep for an hour

I have also been having some strange results with my sleep tracking.  Then I noticed that my clock face (3rd party) was not accurately reporting battery life.  Based on the information I have just read, I have switched to a fitbit face and will see how it works.

After more time playing with the Versa and changing settings I can confirm the following:

Switching the Versa clock face back to Fitbit brand face and restarting the device did not improve sleep tracking.

Updating the App and Versa firmware to latest version and restarting device also did not improve sleep tracking.

Missing sleep info seems to be random, either chunks of time missing at the beginning of the sleep cycle, making it look like I went to bed later than I did, or, missing from the end making it look like I woke up earlier than I did.  I have also had hours of missing time anywhere in between, which splits a single nights sleep into 2 separate recordings which when added together are short of what should have really been recorded.

Hopefully development can fine tune the software with the sensor to fix this issue.  Would just like to note though, apart from the sleep issue, have no other issues with this device.  Everything else tracks and records just fine for me.  Hopefully we can get a working update soon...

Thanks @MarcoGFitbit.

While your team is working on this, I thought I'd try a workaround. Instead of a gap in the middle of my sleep, only the first three hours were missing this morning.  I edited the start time, but that wiped out the nice sleep stats...

Unfortunately, editing the start / stop times is not a good workaround.

I’m going to try and shut off quick view tonight. Las night I got a (non existent) hours gP in my sleep stats with simplified tracking on each side of the gap.

Nice idea @guitarwoman.  I'm going to try that too 🙂

My Versa didn’t track any sleep last night, at all.  I’m so disappointed in this product.

I heard it won't be fixed for about a month. I'm going to take mine back this afternoon after work.

I’m willing to wait for a fix from Fitbit if it doesn’t. I’m thinking the device is too sensitive and needs to be toned down for the sleep stats. Ergo turning off the automatic display. Otherwise, my versa is working properly and except for sleep tracking I really like it.

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the forums and would like to thank you for the troubleshooting steps you have already tried. While our team checks this issue further and if you haven't done it yet, I would like to suggest you to go to your device settings on the online Dashboard and check that "sleep sensitivity" is set to normal instead of sensitive, then use your Versa on your non-dominant hand and monitor the sleep for the next night.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding, once I have more information to share with you about this situation, I'll make sure to update this thread.

Happy stepping!

Mine is set to normal. Maybe we should try sensitive.

I always have the sensitivity setting as normal and always wear the tracker on my non dominant hand. Fitbit has a long history of going back to the user and suggesting the device is not being used correctly, or has incorrect setting, rather than admitting up front whoops, we have a problem. I’ve used Fitbit devices since 2011, I should know.

Now, going along with my thoughts that the versa is too sensitive and interprets movements in bed or brief bathroom trips as a full waking up, I turned off my quick view last night and got accurate sleep stats. This is only one night, so it doesn’t mean too much yet.

I have now had two consecutive nights of accurate sleep tracking by turning off the quick view when I go to bed. Maybe it’s nothing, and maybe it points to my thoughts that the device is too sensitive.

I liked your idea @guitarwoman, so turned off 'quick view' too.  Unfortunately for me, I still have gaps in my sleep tracking.

Also, started to write down my sleep start and stop times.  I discovered that in addition to the large gap in the middle of my sleep, I also have hours not tracked at both the beginning and end of my sleep.  Unfortunately, the inaccuracies of Versa sleep tracking are worse than I initially realized.

This was not a problem with my Blaze.

ps- my sleep sensitivity setting is 'normal'

Update - turning off quick view didn't work for me, because my versa kept activating its screen due to light contact with the left-side button.  Like my blaze, I wear my versa sightly loose, but unlike my blaze, the versa leans against my wrist, and activates.  So please don't be discouraged from trying the suggestion from @guitarwoman becuase of my previous post.

@MarcoGFitbit, maybe the developers can ensure that both button activations and quick view activations don't affect sleep detection.

Another observation - My asked my wife to test my versa last night.  It tracked her sleep flawlessly!  Clearly, this issue does not affect all users.

I am switching back to my Blaze, since it works flawlessly.  I am returning my versa, because the unintended button activation described above, is a physical design flaw, and can't be fixed with firmware.  The buttons need to be stiffer/harder to activate.

Thanks to all for the great comments and suggestions.

Lastly, @Kalush has started a new thread on the this same subject, and @AlejandraFitbit is moderating.

@SemSquaredYour post about the clockface made no sense to me, but it stuck in my head enough that I emailed the developer of my custom face.

He responded immediately to let me know after firmware updates I should install a Fitbit clockface, restart the device and phone, then reinstall my custom face and it should work fine again.

I'll see how tracking goes tonight and update.

@cmcparlandYou can change your clockface via the app.  Click on the icon for your device - you'll see a menu of options including clockfaces.

It's pretty slick. 🙂

I have been using various Fitbit watches for several years and sleep tracking has always worked accurately. I received the Versa for Mother's Day and last night it shows I went to sleep at 10 when in fact I did not go to sleep until after midnight. I was sitting in a chair next to my bed and NOT sleeping. This is the first device I have had that is not accurate on this. Please fix as this is one of the most important features to me and not worth the price if it doesn't work. Thank you.

Have had my Versa for 4 days.  I too am not getting accurate sleep readings.   I have the current 32.32.10.15 firmware, and am using the Fitbit Stats clock.  I have restarted my fitbit and reset to factory settings.  Friday night logged 2 hrs sleep between 10-12 pm and 1 hr sleep between 2-3 am.

Saturday night 4 hrs sleep between 2 - 6 am and last night logged 2 hrs sleep between 4 - 6 am.

Each night I went to bed around 10:00 - 10:30am and got up between 7-7:30am.  All others functions seem to work well, but the sleep portion is way off.   I wear the watch on non-dominate hand, and wear it snuggled.  Please help with this problem and so many people seem to be having.
