Sleep tracking inaccurate with Versa

My Versa tracks my sleep but it's inaccurate.  I woke up this morning at 7am.  My Versa reported I was awake at 5am & it stopped tracking my sleep.  Other nights it starts my sleep long after I go to bed.  I'm asleep after my head hits the pillow.  My Blaze used to track sleep if I fell asleep in the recliner, recorded awake time when I moved to my bed & went back to tracking sleep until I woke in the morning.  Are there known issues with the Versa's sleep tracking that are being corrected by Fitbit?  I made the wrong assumption accuracy (heart rate, steps, sleep) would not be an issue with the Versa since the Blaze works so well.

Last night my Versa, fitted quite tightly, measured a little over one hour's sleep. I had quite a good night (for me) and woke up about 7:20am whilst in a very vivid dream. After manually editing the start and end times, the data looked pretty good but no sleep stages. The previous night was similar, compared well with my Charge HR (after adjusting times), but also gave me the sleep stages.

Hopefully, it might just be a software issue which can be fixed quite quickly..... Fitbit must be able to see the inaccurate data which is being logged....

Mine worked fine for the first week.  Then went haywire for a week. I went back to my first clock face, did fine, however I went and manually set my sleep times to the exact time I went to bed.  Then last night back to only saying I slept for an hour and a half.

I think it is a software issue as well! I hope they fix it soon!!!

Still having the same issues. Last night I slept almost 10 hours. I went to bed at 11 PM. My Fitbit shows me going to sleep at 4 am.... I cannot wear it any tighter. I am seriously starting to get really disappointed in the lack of acknowledgment by fitbit that there even is a problem. It has been a few weeks now and the only solution is the power cycle and wear it tighter. Have a good day. At least say u know it is an issue and we are working on a fix. I bought 2 of these this is a lot of hard earned money

Decided to return. I'm not sure whether I want to try another Versa or try something else.

For the past 3 nights I have gotten different sleep stages, more than basic details. Still on old firmware and no changes to anything I normally do. It's so odd.

Return it now! I missed that window:( Its so hit or miss and never even close to being spot on. It records steps while driving, battery only lasting 2 days and sleep tracking being a total bust.

What is the window for returning it?  I got mine at Best Buy.

Update:

I agree!  I wanted to love my Versa and was planning on buying my mom one for mother's day.  Unfortunately, I am so frustrated with the terrible sleep tracking (one of mom's preferred features on her Charge HR), as well as the several thousand nighttime "ghost steps" I keep getting that I can't, in good conscience, purchase another one.  I am even thinking about returning mine.

I have had a Charge HR, a Surge, and now the Versa and have only experienced this with the Versa.  My husband just purchased the newest Charge 2 and had a previous version and we had purchased my mom a Charge HR.  None of us have ever experienced these issues and it is frustrating for the monitors to keep ignoring our concerns and telling us about sleep hygiene or telling us to mark ghost steps as driving.  I shouldn't have to do that every day when the technology on my other devices didn't require it.

14 days for regular customers and 30 for elite. I returned my on day 14 lol!  New one works correctly intermittently.

I am using the Photograph face, which appears to be a Fitbit clock face.  Should I change it to something else?

And if you think they’ll acknowledge it and fix it guess again. Horrible customer support. Here is their response to me with the same issues you all are having.

We apologize for the inconvenience, Mike. While our product tracks sleep, it is designed to give a general holistic overview of your sleeping habits. The time shown on the graph is when Fitbit was able to estimate that you were asleep - from falling asleep to waking up - based on your movement. If you believe that this graph reflects otherwise, we recommend editing your sleep log accordingly. Thanks for understanding.

I believe it is 2 weeks. Mine was purchased at best buy too, but it was a gift.

My Versa stopped tracking after the latest firmware update.

Manually tracking is not a helpful option.  Nobody here needs a $246 device (after Minnesota takes their tax share) to manually track their sleep.

I guess I'm in the minority here because though I planned to return the Versa almost immediately I did not.  So I'm currently wearing the exact same device I've had since this was released, which gives me about 4 days to bring it back to Target or accept as is.

A friend told me brand new devices always have glitches to work out and to be patient.  When I thought about upgrades in video games I played a decade ago I realized yeah, that's true.  So I stuck with it.  I've been pretty happy with the parts I can use, but the sleep component was by far the single reason I was reluctant to take it back.

I'd love to see resolution - anything other than "feel free to manually track it."  🙂  Not to be a jerk, I just really want this working again  It's a fantastic feature, the benchmarking in particular helps me understand how I'm sleeping.  I'll try the steps OP did but if it won't track again tonight, I'm done with the Versa.

This bit is troubling/strange to me.  But interesting - thank you for posting this.

I paid for my clockface and I'm in love with it.  It's exactly what I want.  So perfect it's like the developer read my mind.

I'll try this too, but will be disappointed if I can't use the custom one.

Still no fix let alone an acknowledgment? I have had a charge he for 2 years, upgraded to the blaze. Loved it had no issues. I upgraded again to the versa and bought my wife one since it was advertised to be water proof and more accurate than the blaze. I wear it the exact same way I have worn my fitbits for the last 2 years and it only records 3 hours of sleep a night. I read in another post that the blaze had two sensors but the versa only has one. Is this true and possibly the reason?

Fitbit really needs to get their **ahem** together on this one. The Versa watch is not performing the way it is supposed to on so many levels. Sleep, HR, notifications etc. Sleep and HR are simply terrible and are no where near as accurate as my old ChargeHR and my notifications never work. These are basic functions and customers that pay hundreds of dollars should not be subject to this. Unfortunately I purchased mine through a sporting good store so I can't return it. If this was not the case i would have sent it back after a couple days. Really disappointing and I have already warned many friends against buying this poorly designed watch. I wish I would have went with the Apple watch.

For a public company they sure don’t care about negative comments.  Perhaps if the comments became really public they’ll wake up.

Aargh!  it is this kind of answer that makes me crazy.  I know how to use a fitbit to track sleep, both from a charge and alta.  And, I am having problems with the versa.  It Is Not Me!  It Is The Device!

I am getting some success with turning off quick view and wearing the device on a tighter notch.  The Device Is Too Sensitive!  If the quick view is activated, and even if the single button is is inadvertently pushed, the Versa Assumes You Have Woke Up and stops tracking.

Basic (disintegrated), Ultra, One, Surge (returned), Flex, Charge, Alta, Charge 2, iPhone 7 Plus, Macbook Pro, iPad Pro.

You should not have to edit sleep every day.  I have the same problem.  About to return as well.  I could not understand the person when I called customer service.  Something about needing to sync more.  This is a bad problem.
