Sleep tracking inaccurate with Versa

My Versa tracks my sleep but it's inaccurate.  I woke up this morning at 7am.  My Versa reported I was awake at 5am & it stopped tracking my sleep.  Other nights it starts my sleep long after I go to bed.  I'm asleep after my head hits the pillow.  My Blaze used to track sleep if I fell asleep in the recliner, recorded awake time when I moved to my bed & went back to tracking sleep until I woke in the morning.  Are there known issues with the Versa's sleep tracking that are being corrected by Fitbit?  I made the wrong assumption accuracy (heart rate, steps, sleep) would not be an issue with the Versa since the Blaze works so well.

Why don’t they withdraw it from sale till it works properly. Surely it misrepresented..

I read that tech companies are spending $80bn on this technology, but no-one has mentioned anything that actually works

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to share your experiences with the sleep accuracy so far, I'm sure this will be helpful for other users as well.

As you may already know, there are several factors that could influence the accuracy of sleep data. It is recommended that you wear your Versa a little tighter, or just trying to adjust it a little bit when going to bed and see how this works for you.

I'm aware that you probably already tried all the basic troubleshooting steps, however, it won't harm to take a look at all the information here with important troubleshooting steps that could help to improve sleep accuracy (sleep stages), or the heart rate readings (that also has an impact on this). They could also be useful for other users checking this thread for the first time. Also, always make sure you have the latest firmware version and your Fitbit app up to date

Thanks for all the feedback , Fitbit continuously works to improve the quality of products and services, and all this information is useful to our team of developers. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience.

Replace won’t help you. It’s a defect.

I'm convinced that this does not happen.

For a couple of years I've been reporting problems with my Alta, then my Charge 2 and now my Versa, but absolutely nothing's been fixed. I seriously doubt that FitBit have any "developers". Rather you've bought a one-off design from some Chinese factory who don't do updates / upgrades / revisions, etc...

For what it's worth.  The Versa is working perfectly for me now.  I use it for weight, sleep and steps.  I had many problems with the first one that I had but Fitbit sent me a replacement and I have not had any issues with this one.  I sync with a Samsung S9+ smart phone and my laptop.  I am not doing anything different (like wiping my wrist) and I don't have to delete and re-re add anything (sleep).  That said, I had many problems with the first one that I had... many of which are being discussed on this discussion board.

Interestingly, FitBit can see our data, correct?  Do you need our permission to access?  Just send an email, to the people on this forum and you can then actually investigate what is happening.  Seems like such an easy solution, rather than generic, stand on your left foot, wipe your right wrist, turn three times and see if it works.  Why not just look at the data and provide responses tailored to the actual problems people are having?

Update on my situation.  Without doing anything, I had two nights of sleep tracked properly.  I woke up both nights, and had a bathroom break as most people do at my age.  But it tracked properly!

Then last night, back to only tracking a part of my sleep.  I then deleted the sleep record and put in the right times. VOILA it worked! Sooooo, this should be a real easy fix for FitBit.  The data is captured, just analyze it properly and bam, it will work.

I agree - the way they speak to us is insulting. I don't want "work
arounds" I want it to function as promised - why don't they just do a
recall and issue us another version?

Nothing gets fixed, in fact the stairs don't track either - yesterday I
counted every time I went UP my stairs - 20 times, not counting going down
- it said 6?! My main floor ceilings are 16ft - two flights up. Does that
mean my steps are off as well?

For me the Fitbit seems to be logging the data correctly but the software on the phone (or Fitbit servers) doesn't recognize when sleep starts. The solution for me was to go into the Fitbit website and edit my sleep times for the day. If I put in the correct start time and end time, it displays the Sleep States. So, it's it's not that it's not collecting the heart rate information, it's just not interpreting the start and stop times properly...

Just updating it on the website updates it on my phone as well.

Sleep tracking is the primary use I have for a fitness tracker. I have sleep apnea and like to keep track of how well my treatments/appliances are working.

We shouldn't have to do these kind of work-arounds. If I knew of a better sleep tracker, I'd sell this one online in a heartbeat.

Also wondering how accurate sleep tracking info is. Last week I napped from
9:00 PM to 10:00 PM on my couch, then took off Versa from my wrist until
11:30 PM and then put it back on and went to sleep until 7:00AM next
morning. It recorded my sleep time as 9:00PM to 7:00am showing the time I
wasn't wearing watch as light sleep.

Yeah, no heartbeat and completely still. It can't tell humans from
vampires. Not the smartest software... Hopefully they will come out with
an update soon.
