Solution for those with the Versa and other watches not working with music control

So, for some background, i am currently using a Pixel 2 which isn't supported by the Versa, which is the watch that i have. 

I listen to my music on Spotify so this may not work for all. 

I've found that if you start listening to a song on Spotify, then pause it, you can control the song itself, not the volume.

When you pause the song a notification comes up on your watch and you can switch from one track to the next, pause and play it and also remove the song from your library. the obvious downside being that the track name does not change, and you can't control the volume, but i still find this solution quite useful.
