You can't hold onto the rails of the stair climber machine.  Same with the treadmill.  The arm with your watch needs to be moving with the pace of your steps in order to record steps accurately.  If your arm is sedentary on the rails, the Fitbit doesn't know you're moving.  It needs the arm motion to properly record steps.

It wont count them on the Stair Climber. You need to go up 10 feet in elevation to count as 1 floor. You are not doing that on a stair climber.

So why is there an activity that is stair climber specific? Should I track using a different activity?

I have the same problem.

I know it doesn't count stairs because you stay stationary, but it does have a window where it says 'steps'.

I did 951 steps today on a stairclimber with my Versa 2. I used the stairclimber workout, and it only counted 11 steps.

Is there a way to manually adjust the steps?

I have the same issue! I have a Stamina Folding Stair Stepper and when I go to use it and use the stair climber activity on my Versa Lite, it doesn’t want to count my steps correctly at all. But for me having a disability (was born with CP) I have to hold on to the side rails and I read on here somewhere that if you do the Fitbit won’t track you step count (which is weird) so lately since I can’t get my Versa Lite to track my stepper activity I’ve just stuck to normal walks. But I agree if it can’t sync or track correctly why is it listed as an exercise activity?

I have to hold on being as I said I was born with Cerebral Palsy so my balance isn’t the greatest. So as I was telling my wife what I might do is just use the timer that was built into my stepper to track my workouts (Steps, Calories burnt, Total duration of my workout) but use my Versa as a heart rate monitor during my exercise sessions being as it should work for that purpose

Same problem. I wish there was a way to customize steps in the log! It’s frustrating.
