Stair climbing inaccurate since firmware update

Since the latest firmware update in June, I believe, the device no longer counts floors climbed accurately. Is this a known issue? Are there any plans to patch the problem?

Me too. I live in a 3 story town house and have been up and dow 6 times by noon and my versa 3 only shows 2

Hi Guy, Is there an ETA for a firmware patch?

@Lil_Huey  - it's been a problem for a long time now, still no news if they are working on it.

It just wants you to work harder. lol

But really, My Charge 4 has been doing this for the past couple of months as well. It also stopped tracking my sleep like it once did. I figured I need a new one as nothing these days last for ever.

Could you tell me if your unit tracks Blood Pressure? I am looking for one that does. The Charge 4 dose not.

Thank you for your time and your information,

The Retired Fat Guy,

Paul

Mission accomplished, I have to climb 20 to 30 floors to get 10 logged. 🙂

My device is still fairly new; got it to replace as dying Blaze. And no the Verse does not measure blood pressure; I’m not aware of any tracker that does. It does measure the SPO2 level while you sleep.
Be well!!

I'll trade ya... mine counts me at 65 floors today and most of those were while I was sitting here at my computer. I've had my Versa 3 since the 10th. Tried calling customer support. They gave me a few ideas to try. None of it worked. Tried chatting with an agent... she pretty much told me I'm screwed then disconnected the chat. Way to go Fitbit.

You could try a Shutdown at the bottom of the watch Settings menu. Wait at least 10 seconds before placing on the charger to restart it and charge it.It may resolve things.

@Lil_Huey  -  try cleaning your watch - the pressure sensor may be partially blocked, treat it as carefully as an ear drum. See next point.

@Idahollie- If you are interested in how your watch pressure sensor is behaving or whether you can get a more accurate floor count, you can verify you don't have a watch problem by using the SimpleFloors app.

The App shows how your watch is affected by environmental issues such as, going room to room, upstairs/downstairs, inside to outside, changes in temperature, etc.

This App is only meant for checking purposes as it uses the battery a lot, but at least it will give you an idea if your watch is fine or if it is some other issue. It may be useful.

My ionic never missed counting stairs, but occasionally lost GPS. My NEW versa 3 as never counted the stairs? It doesn't make any sense to me unless they are cutting corners to make more money?

Best Answer

@robinredbreast  - it would seem your watch is faulty if it's new and not counting stairs.

Are you sure the watch is syncing well and that you have the floors tile showing in the Fitbit App?

You can contact Fitbit Support directly. They may be able to help check it with you.

Also reachable via the Fitbit App, click profile photo, Help & Support, Contact Customer Support.

As it is still under warranty, if found faulty it may be better to take it to the shop for a new replacement, rather than accepting a refurbished replacement from Fitbit and dealing with sometimes drawn out return and shipping issues that may occur.

I'm glad yours is working. Mine has been off for days. I get maybe 3 flights of stairs a day as a SAHM, but my fitbit has read 30+ for days now. At one point it tracked me at 98 flights and I hadn't done any. I tried factory resetting and deleting floors through the settings. Doesn't help.  My bigger complaint though, is the blatant dismissal and rudeness of customer service when I try to make any form of contact about the issue.

Support doesn't help. They just tell you to factory reset it and how to delete unwanted floors (which can only be done by days, not number of floors) and that they know it's an issue. They've disconnected my calls and chats without me being finished talking to them. Just a "sorry I can't do anything" and then disconnect.

It is a bit crazy with stairs.  I live in a split level so decided to include the stairs as a bit of exercise.  One hour I will go up and down once & its records one set done.  Next time it will take any where from 3 to 4 sets of going up and down for it to record one.

Yes I at least know I've done more but come on, at least be consistent.
