I recently bought the Fitbit versa and its been a couple of days only. It keeps increasing the calorie and step count even when I am not wearing it. For eg. I had put it on charge for overnight and it showed 708 cals while on charging. The steps also increased overnight by 12K.

@nish123 Calories burned are normal as those are your resting calories that correspond to your BMR. Ghost steps collected while charging is not normal. Please reboot your tracker several times by pressing and holding the left and bottom right buttons until Fitbit logo flashes. You can delete these ghost steps by manually recording Driving activity in the Fitbit mobile app for the corresponding time period.

Thanks @Marrrmaduke. But I believe that since it is calculating ghost steps, even those are contributing to the calorie count and therefore that count is not accurate. But I will definitely reboot the tracker and observe for sometime to see if it improves. Thanks again !

@nish123 I remember some people reporting ghost steps did not see any calories or active minutes or even when looking at the steps histogram (steps per hour), they did not see steps at all! So... it's hard to say. Perhaps you could post some screenshots? Mainly the histograms - steps per hour, active minutes per hour, calories etc. Also, I don't know how long was your sleep but it is possible to rake 700 kcal in 8 hours as BMR... Depending on your height, weight and gender. Fitbit simply distributes the BMR calories so after 8 hours it shows 1/3 of your BMR calories (24 hours/3).

I was researching online and observed that this is a generic problem with Fitbit Versa. There are multiple threads on the same issue (Ghost Steps) like on this one:
https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Versa/Steps-counting-while-not-wearing-the-Versa/td-p/2681396/page/3
But there is no resolution I could find for this issue. Looks like the general trend is to return the Versa.

@nish123 Not really. I mean there are users that did experience this issue, true. But I wouldn't call it a trend. Nevertheless, which firmware are you on? 3.0?
