Bought my Versa last week. Today I took a break from wearing it, kept it on the bathroom counter ALL DAY and never touched it. Somehow I magically go 10,000 steps? Again, I haven't touched it today. Any word on an update to fix this bug?
I've had steps added during periods of time I'm driving or sitting and will fix it by putting driving in as exercise. Other times if I'm sitting it will randomly say I was outdoor biking. Lots of glitches with mine!

Hi. Thank you for addressing this. I have returned mine but I can answer your questions, based on the two week sample size that I had the Versa.
- I had the Versa SE version
- I had the problem occur in both the firmware the watch shipped with and the latest released at the beginning of this month.
- Mine only occurred while in the charger. 9K plus one night, 10K plus another but 0 on a third night. On the two nights, I left it out but not on the charger, there were not any reported steps.
Each time, the Versa reported the false steps, I checked my step graph to see if these were present and they were not, likewise the distance was 0. If these steps had somehow occurred due to external vibrations then I assume they would show up on the step graph with some corresponding distance measurement.
I would like to try the Versa again when I am confident this issue has been addressed and solved.

- Are you using the standard edition of the Versa or the special edition.
- Which firmware version is your Versa running? (go to Settings > About to get it)
- Does this issue happen exclusively when you charge your Versa?
Thanks for your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting for your reply.

Hello @dokrok5150, have a warm welcome to the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention. Tell me, when your Versa is counting steps while you're not wearing it, is there a fan or anything that may have been buzzing or vibrating on the same surface were the Versa has been placed on? If so, please move the Versa to another surface and check if is still counting steps.
Now, if the Versa is not near a fan or anything buzzing or vibrating, please restart it by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. Then monitor it to check if it's still counting steps. If so, please reply to me so I can check this further.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, give it a try and keep me posted in case you need anything else.

There is another forum that discusses the sensitivity of this fitbit. This is a widespread problem but as far as i know fitbit has not acknowledged. My other 2 fitbits did not have this problem. I mean seriously, a fan or any other vibrations much less driving a car should not count as steps......i got about 10k driving.
I'm trying to decide if this is a problem that can be fixed by firmware or if i need to send it back.

a fan or vibrations should not be tracked as steps for a $200 device....

Thanks for reporting to me your Versa is counting steps while you're not wearing it or while it's charging. By any chance, is there a fan or anything that may have been buzzing or vibrating on the same surface that watch was placed on? If so, that might explain the extra steps recorded by it, in which case I would like to suggest you to place your Versa on a different surface without any vibrations and see if the issue persists.
In case there's nothing vibrating, I would like to suggest you to restart your Versa once again (if you have done it already) and monitor it for the next 24 hours. If the issue persists, please let me know so I can determine which steps should we take next.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, I'll be waiting for your reply.

Hello,
I've had my versa less than a week and last night it recorded steps while I wasn't wearing it. I woke up to notifications that I had met and exceeded my step goal.
My versa was on the bathroom counter, not in the charger. There is a bathroom fan built into the ceiling in that room but it doesn't vibrate the counter.
I have the special edition versa using firmware version 32.32.10.15.
I tried resetting it this morning, hopefully that fixes it. I also see that there are no steps recorded on my graph even though my step count surpassed my goal whole I was sleeping.

This is such a grievous error, Fitbit should freeze sales of the Versa until the fix it. I have a pair of Bose Soundsport bluetooth headphones. The early models developed an issue where heavy sweating under very specific conditions would cause the headphones to short and fail. Bose pulled them from the market for a few weeks until they fixed the problem. Fitbit should do the same with the Versa. If I was a manufacturer of the product, this would be embarrassing.

Hello there,
My Fitbit Versa is also reporting mystery steps and bpm.
- I have the standard edition.
- firmware version
- this happens when I take my Fitbit off and leave it on my bed, the sofa, counter, wherever NOT on the charger. It’s logging mystery steps and bpm while not on my wrist.
Do do we know if there is a fix to this problem yet? If not, I am thinking about returning this device. I’ve had it since May and only started logging mystery steps and bpm in the middle of June. Very frustrating.

Am in my 3rd Versa (The original plus 2 replacements). Each of them has added steps that were not actually taken. This latest one is giving me ghost steps too... I am very frustrated. I will be calling support... again...

There is no fix so far and I am not really certain fitbit is even admitting there is a problem yet. I returned mine due to days and days of phantom steps and 4 resets. It cost too much to be so fatally flawed in the Operating System and be so consistently inaccurate to justify keeping it. For now I keep watching the forum hoping for a fix so I can try again. If you read enough in the forum it appears the ionic also does it which tells me it isn't a fan or vibrating nightstands or operator error, it's a glitch in the software!

My versa is registering steps while in my dresser drawer. It hasn't moved, no vibrations. Nothing.
