Strategies for extending the life and health of Battery

I'm considering two strategies for extending the life and long term health of my Vera 2 battery. Which is the best?

1) Charge to 100% and let it drain down to, say 15%, and recharge to 100%

2) Start at 100% and then each day charge while, for example, I take it off to shower. Never getting to 100% but never getting below, say 50%.

Do you think i should just see a shrink to discuss my FitBit Neurosis? 🙂

I'm no expert, and this is not official Fitbit advise, but:

I have read that for lithium-ion batteries in modern electronics (including phones), for long-term life it is best to keep it charged between 20% and 80%.  That is where the charge gets in with less strain.  Also no need to do long charges; just short 10 minute charges occasionally minimize any chance of heat stress to battery.

I saw it compared to a sponge: when the sponge is completely dry, dripping water on it tends to just run off; likewise when the sponge is nearly saturated.  But when the sponge is wet but not totally soaked, then water is soaked up easier.

I think a good strategy is to just charge it while you take a shower, keeping charge nearly steady.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
