Sudden addition of steps on Versa

Hi there my Fitbit Versa had about 1700 steps and then all the sudden added 47522 between 1015 and 1030 am. Any idea why and can I remove them. Feel like a fraud - now have 51000 even got a 50000 steps badge.

Let me help you with the sudden increase in step count on your Versa. Have you logged any activities to your account? Do you have any third party apps linked to your Fitbit account? Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping. It can also happen while driving. You can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. You can try wearing your device on your non dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement.

As I said before I had 1700 or so steps and all the sudden 47000 steps added on. I did not log any activity and the only app I have linked is Head Up and My Fitness Pal. There was no activity occurring when those happened. I figure it was some sort of interference from an external source. How else could it be explained?

It would be impossible to do 47000 steps in this short period.

Is there a resolution to this?  I had 41k steps added in 15 minutes and it's messing up all my stats.
