The Versa actually seems to count laps pretty well.......BUT once i have finished, it has proven impossible to get the app to turn off. I've dried my fingers and the watch face with a towel; i've had another swimmer touch the start/pause icon an nothing has been effective. I've "stopped" it with a button combination..but then the whole record was lost.
so what gives?

I swim with my Versa every day. It worked fine at first, but lately I notice the same behavior you are experiencing. To turn off the Swim Mode, I push the button nearest the "end" icon (bottom right). This has been working for me. It seems the water effects the screen sensitivity.

After I turn it off with the button, mine displays stats from my swim and they always end up in the App. Sorry you're having trouble.

I figure fitbit will get the kinks out of the versa code sooner or later. BUT it would be really easy to have a button press stop and save a workout! I mean i was actually quite proud of myself today, as for the first time since having 9 anchors placed in my left shoulder a year ago, i swam (as opposed to kicked) a 1650...and the Versa counted the laps correctly. But i couldn't get the recording to stop by any method other than pressing the bottom right "key" and hosing the complete record. sigh.

I bought the Versa to replace my Charge HR because I enjoy swimming. The swim app is great except I can't stop it. Last night an hour after I was done swimming it was still open. It is very annoying because you have to keep pressing the button and lose the the stats when it finally closes. Please fix app.

I, like so many others, am having the same problem. I can’t exit swim mode without pushing a lot of buttons and cursing. When I do, my workout is lost. A drink sounds like a great idea!

My Fitbit Versa won’t stop in swim mode, anyone help me please? I can pause it, start again the next day but then have to wait for it to ‘die’ before I can do anything else. Please hel Fitbit, do I need to send this back to the person I brought it from as it’s no help to me

I have the same problem as everyone else - my Versa jams when I finish swimming and I've tried the same things everyone else has. When I eventually manage to stop it, it hasn't logged the swim.
Once it thought I'd been swimming for several hours...!
I've just spent 30 minutes on the phone talking to Customer Support and they claim they've never encountered this problem before. Maybe they should look at Fitbit Community occasionally.
I also have a problem occasionally with the sleep function. My wake up time is correct when I get up, but later in the day I find that it thinks I have went to sleep again for 2 hours, when I have been out shopping!
Again Customer Support say this is new to them.
She said she will pass my report to her seniors who will get back to me...
By the way, I'm on my second watch now, the first one failed completely, and both have had the same problem.

I’ve had the same problem with exiting swim mode. I have to reset Versa to do it.

When you say reset do you mean restart?
If so, in my case none of the buttons were working so there was nothing I could do...
I do find it somewhat annoying that Fitbit Help on the phone say they've never heard about this before, but there are so many people on the forum saying they have the same problem. It's as if they don't want to admit there's something wrong...

Yes, resetting required pushing the button on the left and the lower button at the same time.
