Text notifications feature not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Day one with the Versa. Love the design and functionality. Everything seems to be working fine, except text notifications from my iPhone X. The Versa receives other notifications such as calls, and from Apps such as Sky News so the Versa can obviously ‘see’ the Versa and notifications must be switched on (text notifications are definitely switched on), but text messages aren’t coming through. Anyone else experience this and have any thoughts on a solution?

I have a versa and just wiped the versa and app and still have all notifications but no text too. I have an iPhone 8. Any help would be great.

SOLVED: in the iPhone settings, under NOTIFICATIONS—- MESSAGES, make sure that NOTIFICATION CENTER is turned on. This will push the text to your versa.

Yes even after the new release. I still get all my notifications minus my cell phone text messages.

Hey everyone, here is what worked for me. (Fitbit Versa & iPhone XR)

I upgraded my phone recently from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone XR...and text messages were no longer coming through after switching everything over from my old phone. I was racking my brain and reading everything online on how to figure out what to do...NOTHING WAS WORKING! Notifications were enabled for Texts on BOTH my iPhone and within the FitBit Versa app.....still, NOTHING!

The way I got it to work was this (it seems odd, but it works now):

- I opened Notifications in my iPhone System Settings, then went down to Messages

- I was stuck here before as I constantly read how disabling and re-enabling the Alerts (Lock Screen/Notification Center/Banners) would solve the problem...but was not doing anything for me!

- The SOLUTION for me was found down inside SHOW PREVIEWS (down at the bottom of the Messages page under Options)

- Now, I have always had Show Previews disabled (selected as NEVER) for privacy reasons...ie: I don't want someone passing by my desk at work and reading my unread messages on my lock screen...so it has always been set to NEVER

- For testing purposes, I selected ALWAYS...I then locked my iPhone and had my wife send me a text from her phone....EUREKA! The text message showed up on my lock screen on my iPhone (with a preview of what the text message was AND on my FitBit Versa as well!

- Now with me still wanting to have the privacy of my texts NOT showing a preview on the lock screen, I tested this by selecting WHEN UNLOCKED

- I now locked my phone again and had my wife send another text...the message now shows up on my FitBit Versa (with a preview) and on my iPhone WITHOUT the preview.....SUCCESS!

In short, System Settings / Notifications / Messages / under Options / Show Previews / Make sure to have ALWAYS or WHEN UNLOCKED selected (whatever your privacy preference is) and voilà! You should have your text message notifications showing up on your FitBit Versa!

From what I can gather, there must be some sort of bug within the FitBit Versa watch software itself that since the watch ONLY shows your texts with a preview of the message, when selecting on your iPhone to NEVER show previews, then your FitBit Versa will not have the messages pushed and displayed for you on it....it's silly, but until someone at FitBit can program the watch to simply just have a text message alert WITHOUT a preview, then this bug will continue to cause some confusion for people.

I hope this helps the iPhone users out there!

Thank you that helped me. It’s been driving me crazy. You only need to turn on “Notification Center” to get messages on your Fitbit Versa.

I had the charge 2 and the text notification worked only twice when I had my Android.

I switched to an eBay iPhone6 and when i paired everything the text notification never worked. Through he space of a year I got the iPhone xs and now a versa lite and still no text notification. It is so frustrating I have tried every "fix" I have found and NOTHING works. I hate to say it but i am considering getting an apple watch just to have the BASIC smart watch functions.

Somehow I finally got mine to work, just the text messages. Took months,
trying different thing. But that is all I really need. I have an XR.
