Dear All
After wearing the Versa for a few days these are my observations please feel free to comment
- When i wake up i have 23 steps - i guess thats not too bad but by the time i dress up and make breakfast and leave my door its 500 steps and i live in a one bedroom flat !
- I put my iphone in my pocket and versa on my wrist and compared the two - either my iphone 8 plus is out dated tech and versa is super super or the iphone is correct and Versa is way over counting - sometimes even in the range of 1000 steps extra !
- Sleep analysis is all cool and stuff but frankly when we all have had a good sleep do i need to know how many hours of REM vs Deep i had - my body tells me i feel great and ready to take on the world !
- I go to the gym and wear a Polar chest strap and the metrics i get from that are way beyond anything the fit bit offers!
I have come to realise my daily routine being a medic in the hospital is approx 5000 steps - impressive but the versa still over-calculates those despite my phone being in my pocket all the time.
The question i have is this
I am thinking of sending my Versa back - i dont want to be rude or insulting to any other fitbit user as everyones preference is unique but when i drove today and sat in the car with 800 steps and exited with 1200 its not really ideal is it ! defeats the purpose of good tech
Am i over reacting - and also i have adjusted stride length and it still does exactly the same !
Any suggestion welcome 🙂

Hi @Hisam2k I think everyone is different with different expectations from a fitness tracker. No wrist worn fitness tracker is going to be 100% accurate, and I think a lot of people expect every measurement to be spot on. I see mine as a guide, not an absolute. When mine tells me I did 10,000 steps yesterday, and 15,000 today I know I worked harder and burned more calories. Whether I walked 15,000 steps I have no idea. If I have my phone in my pocket counting it is highly likely to be more accurate regarding the number of steps taken as it is worn on the body, but I dont carry my phome with me all the time, so for me it isnt very useful. My tracker counts steps in the car and on my bike. On my bike I know I worked harder than the number of steps i gain suggests, so that doesnt concern me. In the car, yes, they are false steps. For me it isnt a big issue as I dont spend a lot of time in my car, but I do understand it can be for some people (you can log a Driving activity manually to get rid of the, but it is a bit of a hassle)
Mine tells me reasonably accurately my heart rate, active minutes and sleep, and though I dont actually need to know those figures I find it interesting.
Mine is also accurate in recording the activities I do - mainly biking and swimming. It does not cope with Ballroom dancing well, which for me is a shame.
But for me the bottom line is I love mine and I like the numbers it tells me and it keeps me on track activity wise. If yours doesnt add anything to you life, then I'd return it in your shoes. It is all down to what you expect and what you get from it. Good luck, whatever you decide.
Edited to add that adjusting stride length will ONLY affect the distance it tells you you have walked, nothing else.

The vast majority of amercan adults are overweight or obese. These are the ones that have the most to gain by counting steps and counting calories. Before I got my Versa, I stopped walking when I felt tired. Now I keep walking until I get 8000 steps each day. I am 68 years old and lost 30 lbs in one year and am no longer overweight.
