Too many calories burned for steps taken

Hi,

I'm receiving 115 calories per 1000 steps it seems. That seems to be way more than it should be. I weigh 160lbs and I am 5'8" height. Everywhere I look says you should burn about 40 calories per 1000 steps. Not sure if there is anyway to change this. I know other people have asked but I have never seen an answer that helps.

How are you arriving at 115 cal per 1000 steps?

Are you doing a 1000 step walk and seeing calories burned for that walk?

Or are you just, at some point in the day, looking at how many steps you have taken and how many calories burned for the day so far?

I have it connected to my fitness pal and it shows the amount of calories. Maybe it's them doing it. I never thought of that

But my point was if you are looking at a long period of time rather than during a specific walk time, it's not a valid measurement because that involves calorie burn other than by steps.
