Total Miles Run in a Period of Time?

Is there any way to tell how many miles I've run in a period of time? I don't want my total miles for the year, that will include walking and other stuff. I want to know how many miles I've logged specifically running within a specific timeframe. I can't seem to find anything on the device or in the app or on the web which will give me this info.

@DarthSasquatch You can try exporting your data by using these steps here.  I tried it about a year ago and didn't care for it, so I created my own sheet for runs (like I mentioned), but then also created an entirely separate sheet that tracks every single day I've owned my Fitbit. I track Steps, Floors, Distance and have it broken down by month.  I really enjoy it and updating it manually doesn't take much time.

I'm a data nerd, so I don't mind creating my own spreadsheets and I like that all my Fitbit stats are also in my own possession outside of Fitbit.

@DarthSasquatch No, I haven't found a way to track that with Fitbit.

I created my own spreadsheet to track runs only.

@Heather-SI figured it would be a manual process. Is there a way, if you know, to export existing data into a CSV or some other spreadsheet friendly format? I'm not seeing anything obvious, maybe there's a trick? If I have to start getting funky with the javascript or python to extract the data, I might as well go get a different system to track my runs...

Figure it out?  I want the same thing, to determine the total number of miles accumulated in a specific activity (running) for the year or for a designated time frame.  Going to one's dashboard (website login) will let you export all your data or portions of it.  BUT THE DATA ISN'T BROKEN DOWN INTO SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES! So I can only see my total "miles" per day/steps... but things aren't broken down into activities.  But I (and you) want our activities logged as "runs" only.  I want to determine the amount of miles I've put on my running shoes.  Here's the best solution I came up with ->  If you select any "run" from the app, it should show you your GPS route on the first screen/tab.  Then if you scroll through tabs to the farthest right tab it will show you "recent" runs too (your current run mileage plus 4 previous runs).  So if you want to drive yourself crazy, you can scroll down through your activities history and select every 5th run or so and manually collect the your run data/mileage.  I'm shocked that the data we can export via our accounts from the dashboard doesn't include categorized "runs"/individual activities in the exported files...

Fitbit, I hope you are paying attention to this forum/problem. People want to set new years resolutions to say that they will run(not walk, not bike) a certain number of miles a year/month. Your online interface and data exports do not support this basic functionality, even though you have access to the data. It is simply being able to filter for the exercise type attribute. Even though I don't like it, I will track this offline as well until this is fixed

I found one way that's not too bad.  If you can get to your Fitbit Activities History screen (Dashboard/Recent Activities/See More), this displays your activities broken down by type (i.e. walk, run, etc).  Then if you highlight and copy the data you are interested in (by cursoring over the data with the left mouse button down and then right-clicking and choose Copy), you can then Paste this data into Microsoft Excel.  NOTE - you must do a PASTE SPECIAL and then choose "Text".  Finally, in Excel you should replace the word " miles" with "" so that you can sum the mileages. Sort the spreadsheet by activity and you should get the numbers you are looking for.  I am surprised that the Data Export offered by Fitbit does not have the type of activity in it.  Very short-sighted of them.
