Does anybody have a tip how to get accurate data while using poles?

Things that are not accurate whenever I go uphill using trekking poles:
Distance traveled

Heart rate monitor

Steps

It is connected to my GPS, however it still reads incorrect data.

For some reason (probably motion) it's more accurate going downhill but I rarely use them going downhill.
If someone could explain why the heart rate monitor would not work with the poles as well that would be helpful.  My heart is beating out of my chest on some of these hikes at elevation and the monitor states: 88bpm.  When I do the same hike without the poles I regularly hit 145-160 on a push.  Thoughts?
