Hello and welcome to the Fitbit Community @daleastar
The brightness on the Versa can be adjusted. Just swipe to settings then scroll down to Brightness. You can tap Auto, Max, Normal or Dim.
😃Please let me know if this helps. Keep me posted

Hello again @daleastar
Let’s try restarting your Versa to see if that doesn’t correct the issue. Look here for the correct procedure to perform this restart: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1186
If that doesn’t work try turning your a Versa off then on again. Here’s how:
On your watch, open the Settings app > tap About > tap Shutdown > confirm the shutdown.
To turn your watch back on, press the back button.
😃 Please let me know if this works for you. Keep me posted

I’ve got the same problem. Tried rebooting, reinstalling app and updating but nothing happens.

I’m having so many issues with the replacement versa, hiked the Grand Canyon, clock was off the entire time, won’t sync and now the dimness and other gremlins. I’m done spending good money on bad products. I’m off to Garmin land.

I'm having the same problem. Brightness is stuck on Dim and rebooting does no good. Battery runs down quickly and is not user servicable so I think I am in the market for a new one. Anybody know of a good fitness watch with replaceable batteries?

I had to do a factory reset but it fixed the problem.

Brightness is grayed out on settings and cannot be selected. Stuck on Dim.

What do you mean by the ‘back’ button?

With the Tips or Quick menu on the watch was only way I could get my watch un-stuck from Dim so I could change the brightness.

It does not work for me. I tried to restart and have the same issue. The brightness adjust in the settings is greyed out and cannot be changed.

I fixed the same problem by going into setting and taking it off sleep mode.

Though this method, I was able to change my brightness to AUTO. That helps! Could not do it through the Settings. I went to Quit Tips and press the - button and it was brighter. I went to my setting and it said Auto.

Thank you, this worked. Not sure why sleep mode was on in the first place.

Solved the issue myself today. Your Fitbit is on sleep mode. Hold the button on the left of your Fitbit and press the moon to turn it off. Then you should be able to change the brightness. Hope this helps!
