Unable to connect Bluetooth audio earbuds Versa 2

So I've seen others seem to be having the issue with Bluetooth headphones not working correctly or terrible sound.

 

I just bought the JBL endurance peak Bluetooth headphones. They connect with my Fitbit versa 2, but only the right earbud plays music. The left will play for about 2 seconds then cut out. 
 
I have unpaired and repaired several times as well as restarted my Fitbit versa 2 several times. Still only the one earbud works.
 
I have connected with my phone and it works perfectly. Tech support wasn't really any help, basically told me to contact JBL which I have, but with process of elimination and checking these forums and Reddit it's the Fitbit.
 
Has anyone got any solutions? Pretty disappointed since I bought the Fitbit to be able to run without my phone.
