ive Been trying for this past two days to set up my versa lite, without success. Every time it says update failed. I have followed every suggestion I can find: have restarted both iPad and tracker several times, removed all other Fitbits from app, tried on laptop, removed and reinstated tracker several times, removed all other Bluetooth items from iPad (and there were no others on laptop). Mightily fed up, nothing seems to work. It does show on the app, with message that update is needed, but that fails too.
Any words of hope? Suggestions? Or do I return it and end my love of Fitbit?

I appreciate everyone is really busy, but if anyone can help I would be really grateful. At the moment my versa lite is packed up ready to return to the shop, and I’d much rather keep it if I can get it working.

I had to return my first versa (wouldn't setup) and my second versa (sync problems) it seems like the mods are overwhelmed with the amount of problems coming in.

Thank you so much for your reply. No help from Fitbit, guess it’s going back. Such a shame, but what I’ve done essentially is pay almost £150 for a piece of silicone: it will be going back. Good luck with yours!

Hello @Jazzj and @Billversa I hope you're doing well, it's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community.
@Billversa I appreciate you have shared your experience with us, I'm sorry to hear you had to return your Versa due to the issues you were experiencing with it.
@Jazzj thanks for reporting this to us and for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. It seems your Versa Lite is able to set up but not finishing the update, in which case I would like to suggest you that before you begin the firmware update, make sure your watch is plugged into the charger and in range of your Wi-Fi network during the update. For best results, use your home or work Wi-Fi network. If you've never connected your watch to WiFi, see How do I connect my Fitbit watch to Wi-Fi?. If your Versa is having trouble updating with WiFi, please try the following:
If the update fails, restart your mobile device and try to update again. If your Versa can't update over WiFi follow the on-screen instructions in the Fitbit app to update your watch over Bluetooth instead. Note that firmware updates over Bluetooth may take significantly longer to complete. If the Versa is having trouble updating through Bluetooth try the following:
Give these steps a try and let us know the outcome.

I’ve done all of this several times with no joy. Even tried factory reset. Failed. Useless.

I am facing same issue. It should be more user friendly. If I have to struggle and juggle for hours what is the point in this purchase? I am returning it.

My Versa Lite doesn't have wifi capabilities and does not have two buttons. Are there instructions like this for the Versa Lite? I have tried setting this up for three days. The firmware update keeps failing. Did a factory reset and the watch can't be setup now.

Ugh!! Just got mine Wednesday and haven’t been able to use it yet. Tried everyday to set it up with no success. Today was the first time I got to 100%, but it only tracks my steps...nothing else is working...says it needs to update!! I’ve done the update at least five times today with no success, seriously this shouldn’t be this difficult! Everyday I had to add my Alta back on...which only took two minutes. I am so bummed, really thought I finally had it today. C’mon Fitbit, you need to resolve this major problem!!

I'm having the same setup problem. I get to 1-2% download of the update, and get the "update failed" message. I've tried all of these restart/reboot/reload Fitbit app suggestions multiple times in multiple orders and still get to exactly the same point. And I'm not sure what this means ("back (left) and bottom buttons") since the Versa Lite has only one button and it's on the side. Unless some accurate advice for the update is provided, I guess it's going back. It's a shame, since I really like the look of it and was looking forward to using it.

Nope, gave up and sent it back! Wasted far too much time on it, and it just didn’t work. (And neither did the replacement)
