Unable to update my Versa.

Howdy all. I've had my Versa for a little over a week. Zero issues until this Firmware Update was available. I've been reading here for help along the way but I've gotten stuck again. Here's what I've done:

 

1) uninstall/reinstall fitbit app (I'm an android user, so I cleared cache and data before the reinstall.)

 

2) successfully connected my Versa to my WiFi (this took several attempts as the app wouldn't bring up any WiFi networks -- even mine.)

 

3) I yelled at my Versa telling it to stop being a jerk. This was of no use, but I felt slightly better.

 

I am terrified to do a factory reset of the Versa: I'm extremely attached to my data for reasons and don't want to lose anything. Can someone tell me exactly what I will lose and/or keep in this action? (Past data on app perhaps?)

 

When I attempt to download the update, I get to the screen telling me there are things I should expect from the update, I poke "next" and then I hit the proverbial wall as the app just keeps searching for my device.

 

I wonder if perhaps my app is trying to do everything in Bluetooth. How can I make sure it's connecting using WiFi?

I did actually. I read someone elses comment before i posted. Added it
again, said it was updating. Then it just up and restarted again. It wont
let it fully update before it shuts off and restarts. I cant even get to
the home screen.

I did right before I posted. It seemed okay but then it went back to restarting. It tries to update then it goes and restarts. I cant even get to the home screen. Ive done every thing I can think of.

I did all business of restarting my phone and the device and was about to
give up and throw the thing out the window... Until it magically worked. I
had never even known about connecting to wifi, but after re-adding, it
worked. Also had the device in the cradle. There has to be something else
in between that I did in order for me to get it working after weeks of
trying. But after removing the app, reinstalling, restarting my phone,
restarting my watch, I somehow managed to get the device to find my wifi
signal and connect, and the last step was re-adding the device. This wifi
thing is stupid when the device uses Bluetooth. It's too confusing yet it's
the only way to update? Really bad.

That's a **ahem** shame. Could newer ones be somewhat different than older? As
I said, it took me weeks to sort it. I've had mine for at least 2 years. It
just shouldn't be this difficult and infuriating.

I got a replacement versa and so far so good but I REFUSE to run the firmware
Update - Although it hounds me incessantly. With my last one as soon as I ran they firmware update my versa was hosed - I’ll milk this replacement along until it goes (which I expect it will) and then I’m done with Fitibit

Maybe Google will be better about
Customer service but I’m not inclined to
Spend another $250 to see.

They sent me a replacement but it wouldn't work unless I did the update😠. I think I'm going to call customer service and ask for a new replacement, you would think that the new ones work since they are still selling them!!Sent via the Samsung Galaxy S7, an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone

I bought my Fitbit versa on hsn I will be returning it. I've sent four days trying to update and it still won't do anything. I called Fitbit customer service and they said I was not the first customer to complain about this they said it should be up in about 48 hours I called them yesterday. If it doesn't work it's going back.

Save yourself just return it and get something else with the money.

I never could get the update to upload. I think it's a trick to get you to buy the newer version. I only had mine 6 months when this happened. The tech support here does not help. Instead of reading your post. They want you to start all over again.

My sister found this pink button on the Versa Lite page, and she updated it to 77.74, I think. Mine is only 33.1.30 and I don’t know why there isn’t a pink button. Help!!

I have had all of the same issues, it's very frustrating. I'm currently trying to use my tablet to update, however, it's over Bluetooth. I've spent two days doing this and the only I haven't done is change the router bc I do not know how to. If you can help me I'd appreciate it otherwise I feel I have a defective device.

You sound exactly like me and I've done all you have done. It's ridiculous when paying this much and after reading all the great reviews. Not sure what to do now as this was a gift and ohh right we are all under quarantine.

Yeah, I wasn’t able to update my Versa. So my sisters got the update about two or three days before me. I got a message from the crew saying that they are slowly rolling out the updates. So it can take different times for different people. I mean, you can get it ten days after someone. It all depends. I hope this helps!

Thanks for replying! I am going to send it back. I tried everything and
when contacting Fitbit they were having me do all the same stuff. It was
quite disappointing. Glad you got yours working and good luck!

It is not a connection issue. My tracker is working. The installation has not been working with versa lite
