Update crashed my watched so I have to buy a new one

This is the second Fitbit I’ve owned when between year 2 and 3 their update has crashed my watch. Their fix is to give me a discount (which is very comparable to what is already available online) to buy a new one. Both watches worked perfectly fine until an update went through and crashed it. My current Versa 2 was stuck on the logo or Home Screen but would not swipe in any direction. I restarted it. I turned off and on Bluetooth. Watch would connect and I entered code. The clock would then appear, but wouldn’t swipe. Eventually, it would go back to logo. Called help line and they had me hold button for 10 seconds 3 x in a row. When that didn’t work the told me to buy a new one with a “discount” they would send. After this happening for a second time- I’m thinking I am done with Fitbit. Anyone have recommendations for a watch to replace it? Thinking I’ll probably switch to Apple, but open to options.

My wife's Versa 2 experienced the same issue and I tried all of the recommended fixes that I could find, but to no avail. We also had an issue with an Amazon Cube that stopped working when an update was installed. Their solution was the same, buy a new one. Didn't fall for that scam then, and not going to now. I'm going to research devices from other brands, adding how they deal with the same issue with their product to the list of things that need looked into. Good luck in your search.

I ended up going with the Apple Watch SE 2. Like it a lot so far, but
getting used to the shorter battery length. Would love to know what your
findings are on your research!

My wife's Versa 2 has the similar problem, it's stuck in a Fitbit Logo loop. Seems like a recent update broke it. A lot of other users are facing similar issues.

Seems quite fishy, something that Google/Fitbit did on purpose.

If Google/Fitbit does not help, I would advice to file a complaint with FTC and your state AG.
