Updated and then lost all steps for today

Tonight I finally noticed the alert that my versa had an available update. I updated. I was over 11,000 steps for the day when I updated. Once I updated, my total for the day became 27. What?! I lost my 11,000 for today! Any idea how to get my steps for today back?
