So I upgraded to the Versa2 on Monday and immediately have noticed a huge jump in the calorie allowance. All of my settings are still the same and I have a lot of historical data to show how many calories I had previously been allowed. It appears to be right around 500 calories more per day than I had previously been allowed. I am set to personalized, 500 calorie per day deficit, with a goal weight set. Is there a possibility that somehow it is not registering my desire to lose somehow. Or could the fact that I climb 10 or more flights of stairs per day add that many calories where the alta did not register stair climbing? I really want to lose weight and the alta levels of calories were working for me at basically the expected rate, so I am really nervous eating this many calories. I am also really hungry so would love to be able to eat more. I am torn. Has anyone else experienced this?

@quietplace It's nice to see you on the Community. I appreciate that you mentioned you had a Fitbit Alta before and now you upgraded to the Versa 2.
Thanks for mentioning the calorie allowance that you have set in your Dashboard. The calories that you're allow to eat will be based in the calories burned and your weight goal. If you're exercising more now than you were with your Alta, this might be the reason why Fitbit is letting you eat more.
I would like you to double check that your personal information is properly entered in your account. Also, check that your food plan data is properly set.
If after checking this, your calories eaten seems high, please provide me with more details about your calories burned with Alta and with Versa 2 and the amount of calories you were allowed to eat.
I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Hi Silvia,
Thanks for replying. I continue to monitor the situation I have checked all my inputs and they remain the same and I reset my weight goal to see if it would affect the calorie allowance but it did not. For the next week I have guests and I will probably not have time to check the forums but will still be using my fitbit and monitoring my calorie allowance. At that point I will have more data for you. If I continue to feel like it is an issue I will reply back on this thread. I can always manually adjust various settings so it is not a big deal. I was just curious if anyone had noticed.
Here is really quick example. On 12/18 I walked around 10000 steps and the Versa 2 gave me 2323 calories for an allowance. Earlier on the alta 10000 steps would allow me 1900 or 2000 calories.
Thanks again.

@quietplace Thanks for getting back.
Please continue checking your calorie allowance and if you feel like you're still receiving too many calories to eat then reply back in this thread. If you have screenshots with the data, please attach them to your next reply.
I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

I have been checking my calories, and I don't know if the versa was somehow taking some time to adjust because I have it set to personalize or if it was something else, but the numbers seem to be more in line now. When they are not, I chalk it up to the number of stairs climbed because my alta did not track them and I sometimes climb a lot of stairs - like 17 staircases one day - so maybe that is affecting the calories.
Things seem fine now. For example - yesterday I had a very low activity day with only about 6000 steps and four staircases climbed. The alta numbers in the past and versa numbers now were very similar for that amount of activity. So - basically - I am good.
Now if I only I could actually hit my calorie goal. 😉
Thanks for replying!

@quietplace Thanks for getting back. I'm glad to hear that your calories seem to be okay now.
I have to tell you that hitting your calorie goal either calories eaten or calories burned is difficult, for me it's all about self control with calories eaten and discipline and motivation for calories burned. Have you checked our Discussions Board? You could find tips for Eat Well and Get Moving.
Don't hesitate to get back if you need further assistance. 😉
