Using Fitbit to pay for Myki Melbourne public transport

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone has been using fitbit to pay on trains and teams in Melbourne? My Fitbit vibrates near the Myki card reader as though it will allow payment but I can’t find anything online about this working, whether you need to touch off or if you’ll be charged twice. I know there’s a trial on for android phone payment but I’m reluctant to experiment in case I get charged incorrectly or twice! I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has worked this out!

@Walkingtowork2 Welcome! It's good that the community is growing! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your Fitbit pay inquiry. You can use this feature with compatible contact-less payment kiosks so if you find one at your public transport you should be able to use it there.. You can read more about this feature here.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello @AlvaroFitbit , I think @Walkingtowork2 was referring to transport in Melbourne, Australia as they were referring to Myki (the dedicated transport card in Melbourne, not a bank card). I am also interested to know if this is in the works as I don't think it's a possibility yet! I believe it depends on Myki/Public Transport Victoria to enable this rather than Fitbit, is this correct? Thank you, H

When I pass through the myki reader my Fitbit vibrates so I think it must work on the same basis as the android payments?

I think it vibrates because it has the NFC technology in the device, so it
is capable of working on any contactless payment machine, providing you can
link your bank card/Myki card to your Fitbit. You can only link it if the
bank card/Myki organisations have enabled Fitbit payments at their end (I
guess it's a lot of IT ground work to make this happen..) That's my
understanding, please correct me or elaborate dear Fitbit Community 🙂

It didn’t vibrate before the android payment option was enabled earlier this year, so I wondered if the payment platform was rolled into the android trial. I am reluctant to try and pay with it in case I get fined because inspectors can’t assess if you have paid or not.

Hey fitbit community.

I'm wondering if I can add myki (the card for trains or buses to travel) on my fitbit versa 2 for top up. I dont know where to add it. When I go to add cards it shows options like credit or debit card and I pass( Taiwan only). I dont know what the second option mean. Help me with this if I can add myki card..

Thanks

@AMNEET Thanks for being part of our Community!

Thank you for your inquiry. Currently this isn't available but you can share your idea in our Feature Suggestions board. Search for the idea first to see if one already exists so you can add your vote. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement it.

Let me know how it goes.
