Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Fitbit Update: 2/6

Fitbit OS 4.1.1 (Firmware Version: 35.70.7.21) for VERSA 2 smartwatches has been released to 100% of users. If you haven't yet, please make sure you update your watch to this new firmware.

If you recently purchased or set up your Versa 2, you might not see this firmware available to you yet. Continue syncing the watch and in a few days or less, you'll be prompted to update to this firmware.

Fitbit Update: 1/31

Hi, Versa 2 users!

We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1.1 (Firmware Version: 35.70.7.21) exclusively for Versa 2 Smartwatches.

We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED

The update includes the following:

    •  We optimized the algorithm used to track your heart rate on Versa 2 to complement our latest hardware.
    • Bug fixes and other improvements.

For more information on the new features included in Fitbit OS 4.1.1 check out this article. You can also check out our press release

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa 2 can be found here

If you run into any trouble updating your Versa 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips. If you have any issues after completing the update, when in doubt, try a restart on the watch.

How to restart your watch:

  1. For Fitbit Versa 2, hold the back(left) button for 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the button.

We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

Thanks so much for your help. I've been using the Exercise App on the watch. I did notice the addition of the automatic function which is wonderful.

None of my functions are tracking with the update... I’ve charged it, tried resetting it... any thoughts? I’m now several days without data - other than what I am manually putting in. 🤬

They cannot seem to understand that the problem is with the update! Now, they want me to do another one!

Extremely disappointed as I’m sure many others are that the new release did not address the length count functionality restoration. I.e. Visible length count during the swim.

This has been raised by lots of disappointed Versa 2 users who were used to this functionality from the original Versa.

@Fitbit Appear to continually ignore this.

after update, no longer receiving text notifications.  Only receiving phone calls and steps notifications.  I have restarted, reset, removed the app, reconnected the app and phone, turned on/off, etc.  you name it, I've done it trying to get my notifications.   Getting really disappointed with the equipment and ready to return it.

After the update of last month fitbit for versa 2 version 35.70.7.21,
my bluetooth headphone connection is lost after 1 time use.
I get the message that no headphone is connected.
When searching for bluetooth connection the headphone is not visible.
I have to reboot the watch and then the headphone is found again.

But when I try to listen to music 2 days later the connection is lost.

I had to reboot 3 times already. Before the update this was no problem.

Hi, I have the latest update on my Versa 2, however the water log on my watch is not syncing correctly with the app. After a sync the app either logs a crazy amount like 25,000 litres (which I can delete) or it overrides what I have logged on my watch, so I lose my information. Can you help please?

OK, I have an offer this morning to update my FitBit Versa 2. Being an engineer and Beta Tester for other applications I will install the update with these precautions:

1. Fully charge FitBit

2. Fully charge IPhone SE

3. Turn off auto-off on cellphone during update.

4. Verify IPhone connected to home WiFi during update.

The last time I paused the app to prep the FitBit the offer to update did not appear again after I restarted the app so I will not know for certain I will be able to update after I close this post. Will let you know results.

Firmware update went OK. No observed problems thus far. Pulse Rate matches “finger tester” readings. Will keep fingers crossed.

Hi everyone. It's good to see you again and thanks for your continued reports. I'm sorry for the delay and let me continue helping your with your inquiries about the Versa 2 latest update.

@NadineMel and @Valory. I appreciate your efforts as well for the information provided. I'm just wondering what clock face are you using for your watches? Is it one developed by Fitbit? Some 3rd party clock faces might not be enhanced to the latest update so please try using one from Fitbit and if the same happens, provide me with its name.

@Boomerang10, thanks for letting me know about your Versa 2's behavior after the firmware. About your functions not being tracked, do you mean that your basic stats (steps, distance, floors, etc) aren't being recorded, or are you having issues to sync with the Fitbit app?

In regards to the heart rate function, on your Versa 2 swipe to the left and tap on Settings. Turn Off the heart rate, restart it one more time and turn the heart rate function back On. Wear it on your wrist and monitor its behavior.

@Mckennaimoh, thanks for bringing this to my attention. Just to confirm, did the step count update after syncing with the Fitbit app? If you haven't done so, please try restarting your watch and verify if the All-Day Sync is enable in the Fitbit app. If you continue having issues with your data resetting by itself, don't hesitate to let me know.

@shufflejogger, thanks for the details. It's odd that your Versa 2 isn't logging your water correctly and to work on this, please verify if the Fitbit app in your phone and the Today app in your watch are updated, restart your watch and try logging your water one more time. If the same happens, let me know your phone's model and OS version to further investigate.

@Strahinja, thanks for sharing that your heart rate readings aren't accurate during your workouts. To troubleshoot your watch, please try turn off the heart rate function within your Versa 2 settings, restart your watch, turn back on the heart rate function, wear it on your wrist for the next days and monitor its behavior during the day and when working out.

Please keep me updated.

@LizzyFitbit I switch between Waveform and Sundial if that helps

Best Answer

Hi @LizzyFitbit I'm using Waveform which is the default one that loaded with the watch after I did a factory reset. I've decided to not install any other watch faces to try and eliminate variables in troubleshooting this issue.

hi, after updated my versa 2, my sleep data are showing on the Fitbit app when sync on phone but not showing on the device itself.

please help me.

Since this update, my versa is not tracking active minutes properly. Is there a heart rate threshold that must be met? Example I had workout running on the watch to log pilates. It tracked the entire 30 min workout but logged it as zero active minutes.

Is anyone addressing the notification failure issue?  I can receive emails and Facebook Messenger, but I'm not receiving text notifications.  I have an Android 10S+ and am using the message app that came with the phone.  I purchased the phone on December 13th and this function worked for approximately 2 weeks.
Thank you.
