VERSA 2 OVER COUNTING STEPS & STAIRS

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently got the versa 2 and have been less than impressed after the switch from versa. I like the new features BUT it’s results are way off. For example I am averaging 350 - 400 flights of stairs and on average do 10 how can it be that far off!?! I know how it works and I’ve read that it runs off of pressure changes but I’m not doing anything fancy with it to make it go through these drastic pressure changes. The step counter is also way over sensitive it will count arm movements as steps so I’m getting 15,000 - 20,000 steps a day when I should be getting 10,000 - 15,000. I’ve been tracking the Fitbit versa 2 against a Garmin watch and the results are completely different witch my husbands Garmin being way more accurate. I don’t like getting false results since I’m very much a perfectionist and work really hard to meet all my goals just to find out I may not actually me meeting them because it’s all false results. Thinking about getting rid of my brand new versa 2 and getting a apple or Garmin watch. Anyone else having my issues?

I was SO excited to get my Versa 2 yesterday after waiting a month because it was on backorder.  Unfortunately I have to same over counting issue.  When I was sitting in the car this morning magically 40+ steps were added.  Right now it says I've done 1200 steps, I've probably done 1/2 that.  Honestly I'm surprised that this is an issue, Fitbit isn't new technology.

I reset mine yesterday by holding the left button for 10 seconds and it’s definitely improved.. I’m no longer climbing 10 extra flights of stairs or doing steps when I’m sitting on the couch! Hopefully this will resolve your issues too

Tried that several times over the past few days with no luck.   It’s still registering several thousand ghost steps a day.  My iPhone will say 2000 when the Fitbit says 5000.

Versa 2 SE, recent purchase,  had ~>1 month

Hand gestures appear to be counted as steps, best I can tell.  Barely moved today and got over 10k reported.

Paired with Samsung 9

I’m the same... I’ve realised I talk with my hands a lot!! Sitting in a meeting I’ve suddenly hit my hourly goal my simply waving my hands.

I did a reset by holding in the button the the left and restarted the device. It’s much better and I no longer get the crazy stairs records. I have discovered that some of my “steps” are actually hand gestures!

Nope never had any luck. Ended up sending it back.  Incredibly disappointing, FitBit has been around for years marketing as a fitness tracker, I thought they’d have nailed down accurate step counting long ago.
I left it on my night stand one morning and that evening it said I’d gone 700 steps. The next day it went back

Just this week the tracker has started counting crazy levels ( 502 yesterday ) ..... I have no idea why but must assume that the step count and therefore calorie count are also inaccurate.  Incredibly frustrating as I really do (sadly) rely on the device to encourage more movement in the day. I have restarted the device twice but no luck. This is my 4th Versa, they all seem to go wrong between 6 and 12 months, I'll be returning this as soon as John Lewis open up and will be going to Garmin, I have never found the support from fitbit helpful.
