Versa 1 has trouble “connecting” for exercise

On my old Versa 1, I never had a problem clicking exercise > run and my watch would connect within seconds and I stayed connected throughout my workout.

That Versa died a couple of weeks ago. I bought a replacement (the Versa 1 special edition) and now when I click exercise, it will often take up to 15 minutes to connect. It’ll say “connecting...connecting” forever. I will force close the Fitbit app, restart my phone, go into and out of airplane mode, turn Bluetooth off/on, literally every troubleshooting step I can think off. But where it WILL eventually connect after a time, I often find that while I’m running it will lose connection multiple times and my watch displays that gods forsaken  “connecting...connecting” again. When this happens, my tracking will then become inaccurate and the GPS trace will be all over the place. I should mention that my phone is with me and within a few inches of my watch.

This isn’t a problem with my phone, I never had an issue with my previous Versa. I’m getting increasingly frustrated because I bought the Fitbit purely to track my exercise.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have a Versa Lite.   Last evening due to ongoing problems with the watch I reset the factory settings, and I am trying to restart my watch.   My watch face says to download the app to continue. Of course I already have the app on my phone so I deleted the Versa off the app and tried to set up the device  It recognized the phone but will not connect.  Even left it open trying to connect all night long.  Trying again this morning but still "Connecting to tracker".  I have even installed updates to the app.   At this point my watch is worthless - watch face keeps telling me to download the app.

If FITBIT is reading this  I will never purchase another Versa Lite .  Maybe never purchase another Fitbit.   Customer service was great sending me new watches but as I expected the warranty is out now and the phone only lasts for five or six months.     I bought my first one last April and since then it was replaced four times under warranty .   Of course the warranty is now expired even though I have only had this particular watch for  6-7 months.    INFERIOR PRODUCT

I also have problems with this, though I'm using a Versa Lite that I purchased almost a year ago.  I can fix it by simultaneously recording with Strava, which seems to keep the GPS running properly.

BUT, the problem is that then Strava can't automatically receive the GPS track from Fitbit that contains the heart rate data, since it's a duplicate of the one it recorded.  So I have to do a bunch of stupid steps to delete the Strava data and manually import the Fitbit recording.

For me, this started with the latest firmware update, prior to that I didn't have any unusual problems.  I posted to the forums but got no response.

I have never used strava. I can’t even get my watch to go past load the Fitbit app. Maybe the update caused the problem. I will keep a check for new undated and maybe that will fix it. Thank you fir replying.
