Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @jheagy-55. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that your active minutes don't show up. Thanks for the additional details, I appreciate your efforts to resolve this. I would like to confirm if you don't see your active minutes on the app or on your watch, or you see that your active minutes are 0. I will be glad to investigate further.

Meanwhile, I recommend restarting your watch by following the steps from this help article: How do I restart my Fitbit device?

For more information about how the active minutes are calculated, please see this help article: What are active minutes?

Looking forward to your new comments.

Thanks for getting back to me. So as for my active minutes, first off I did restart my Fitbit and checked my settings. However, on Saturday 4/11/20, it showed I had 14,380 steps, 6.46 miles, and 216 active minutes, this just doesn’t seem right, these numbers just don’t seem add up, for one thing it seems like way to many steps for the things I did on Saturday.

It seems to register more steps than I’m actually taking. As you noticed up top the 14,380 steps, and the 6.46 miles, plus the 216 active minutes which is 3.6 miles. I thought I read somewhere that 10,000 steps = 5 miles. So I don’t what is going on.
BTW my Fitbit and the app are same information if that helps you at all. Well thanks for letting me vent.

Hi @jheagy-55, thank you for your reply. I am sorry for the delayed response.

Thank you for letting me know that your active minutes are showing after doing a restart, but you're concerned now with the accuracy of your watch. I appreciate the additional details and recommend making sure that your details and settings are correct. Please see this help article for more information: What can I do if my step count seems inaccurate?

I also recommend checking this help article where you can find the information about how your device calculates your activity and tips to improve accuracy: How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

If the issue persists, please let me know if you've noticed that your watch is not tracking your activity accurately during some kind of exercise? Do you see any difference with the rest of the stats (heart rate, floors)? I will be glad to investigate further.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

My active minutes on my Versa 2 are wigging out!  For the last 2 weeks my FitBit has been resetting my active minutes.  I have to hold on to the sissy bar on the treadmill because I walk a steep incline.  In order to track my steps accurately I tuck my tracker in my leggings pocket.  I keep up with my HR on my iPhone app and my active minutes.  The active minutes have been resetting themselves during my workouts on the treadmill.  It is random as well.  I walked my first 10 minute cycle this morning it went back to 0 active minutes, I walked another 13 minutes it went back to 0, then i waled the rest of my 65 minutes and it didn't reset the rest of my walk.

I did a live chat the first time it happened.  The guy had me restart my FitBit.  That didn't solve the problem.  The next time it happened I called and spoke to another tech.  She had me do a factory reset and re-pair my Versa 2 with the app neither of these "fixes" worked.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @meslover.

Thank you for joining the thread and sharing that the active minutes on your Versa 2 are resetting. I appreciate the additional details and your efforts to resolve this. I recommend to wear your watch on your wrist when you're on the treadmill for better calculation of your active minutes. The active minutes are awarded when the activity you're doing or logging is more strenuous than regular walking which last 10 minutes or longer. For more information, see Active minutes. Please let me know if you manually log the activity? Do you see the active minutes on your watch?

Let me know how it goes after wearing the watch on your wrist during workout.

YES!!!!  I have the exact same problem.  I just spent an infuriating 45 minutes on an online chat with someone who was not understanding what I was saying.  I too tuck mine in my yoga pants pocket when I do my elliptical or recumbent bike.  Any Fitbit I have ever owned has tracked steps and activity minutes this way.  Now my brand new Versa 2 will not.  And three times in the past two days it showed activity minutes and then removed them while i was looking at it!  I have rebooted, re-installed and tested it five different ways. I am returning it, if it can't do what I want then it is not worth the $200.00.

Do you use the exercise tracker feature on your watch? I walk the treadmill for a minimum of 95 minutes every morning. I have started using the treadmill function on the exercise tracker and it keeps up with my active minutes while I walk the treadmill as long as I keep my HR in the fat burning or cardio range. I don’t know if our heart rate has anything to do with the active minutes or not. What do you think?

HI Beth,

I normally do not use the exercise tracker feature. The way I have always done it is to put it on my waist or somewhere on my leg if I have a pocket. it always would record my steps, active minutes and then auto record on exercise tracking. Now for some reason today, I put it in the waist of my yoga pants, and it recorded the minutes I worked out. Maybe it was me? I am going to keep an eye on it for the next week. If it happens again I think it is going back. Thanks for taking the time to reach out, I appreciate it!

Hi Rose,
I think it’s the watch/app interface that is the issue. I started walking the treadmill at 8:30 this morning. I only walked for an hour and the app reset 3 times in that hour. In addition to that I did not get credit for the 8:00 hourly activity even though I walked the treadmill as well as getting my gear ready to leave the house, walk to my car, car to fitness center I got zero credit for steps in the 8:00 hour 😨 I think it must be some kind of disconnect between the watch/satellite signal/app display. Did you have issues today?

I don’t know about Rose, but I’ve reset my phone to factory settings twice and have done a hard reset once. It has to be a signal disconnect somehow.
