Versa 2 - Alexa - "Connection Lost" - must sync Fitbit to use?

I just got my Versa 2 a couple days ago and I am having trouble connecting to Alexa. When I try to connect, I get an error message (CONNECTION LOST - Sync device in Fitbit mobile app. Let app run in the background to use Alexa"

I have checked my settings for both Fitbit and Alexa (I have an Iphone XR) Both are set to Background App Refresh, Location - Always and Fitbit is set for All Day Sync.

My question is: Do I need to open the Fitbit app on my phone every time I want to use Alexa? If I open the Fitbit app and sync - then Alexa will work. Do I have my settings right or is this how Alexa works on Versa 2? I'm a little bummed because I thought I only had to push the button on Versa 2 and it would work. It's just as easy to open the Alexa app and use it on my phone.

Could not keep my Alexa connection, reboot fixed it only for one time, but turning on my call notifications fixed it and has not gone down once since. Here are steps:

open fitbit app on phone>click on user icon upper left corner>click on your versa watch icon>scroll down below sync line there is more down there>click on notifications and turn on calls(default is off).

Why does this work? I am speculating it pings the connection to watch more often so you do not lose connection. With just text, it lost connection for me.

I've always had my calls and texts both turned on and still regularly lose
the Alexa connection, so, I'm doubting this is a fix, at least on the
Android side. If you're on IOS, maybe you've got a solution.

I always regretted buying Versa 2, Always.

Mainly because they're too business peeps to bring Google Assistant for old devices, yet they'll market Alexa like it's their mumma. Oh and you can't do anything with this crap like 95% of times unless let it drain your phone battery 24*7.

I wish I purchased some cheap Chinese smartwatch instead of expensive but cheap Chinese like fitbit versa 2.

I was having the same issue. I have an iPhone. I logged out of the Alexa on the app. I restarted my phone and the watch. Then logged back into Alexa from the Fitbit app. So far has been working for me. Fingers crossed.

Their so called Moderators or tech supoort don't know a thing. Tried everything they kept telling me to do for 3 hours last night. Today I didn't waste my time with them and figured it out myself. Hope Fitbit doesn't pay those people
