Versa 2 Died - After 1 Swim

So I bought a Versa 2 in September 2019, which has been working fine until Thursday 15th September, 2022.

I went swimming in it (the first time ever) and its officially died the sensors got wet it seems. I've never swam in it before, never showered in it either, never wore it to the gym (i have a polar with chest strap for that) but it's now its failed, doesn't turn on, doesn't charge.

Whatever seals/sealant used cannot be fit for purpose if it degrades after 3 years. I went with fitbit because they seemed a reputable brand. But the more I read the more I see people complaining about the quality and this water resistant failure appears to be a common thing. Its a shame because I know I'm not within warranty but why should I pay £199.99 for something that's only going to last another 3 years. When I know friends whose Garmin/Apples are at least 5 years old.

Is there a way to open the device up and repair it. Got to be cheaper than buying a new device.

Hi @Turmite01 - the seals are variable and can fail much sooner than yours. They are not repairable, especially from water damage inside which essentially means replacing ALL the components, so it's cheaper to buy a new watch, which are currently on offer.

The Versa 2 is listed at £149.99 but you may get one for a lot less if you want to stay with Fitbit.

I don't just have £149.99 to spend on another watch just like that with the current economic crisis and other financial commitments. Point is fitbit are continuing to sell a product that doesn't do as it states which is a breach of trading standards. If it states its water resistant then it shouldn't fall on the first time it hits water.
