Hi all,
i am new to the Fitbit world and just purchased the versa 2 I was intrigued by the sleep score. I wore it to bed last night woke up and synced it but there was no score only showed data for R.E.M., deep and light sleep. I have searched and read so many forums I seem to find some that says yes it is part of the app or no its part of the new premium subscription.. my welcome email clearly says all heart rate monitors come with a sleep score.. am I doing something wrong? Even in settings in the app the only option to turn on/off is sleep insights. I've uninstalled, the app, restarted the watch and still nothing..I'm running on iOS 13 so,that shouldn't be an issue. Can someone tell me yes the sleep score is standard and how to access it or no fitbit has now put that as part of their premium service.. thank you

Hello I have the exact same issue and I upgraded my Fitbit to the versa 2 specifically for the sleep monitoring. Frankly my old charge 2 gave me more information. Very disappointed and can't seem to resolve it

I wear my watch about 1.5 inches away from my wrist, (higher towards my forearm)

Thank you for the update @Dormar5, after giving up on sleep stages a couple of months I found a new option. When I go to bed I use a 'loose fit' so it can move around freely. For now it seems to work and I see sleep stages a couple of times a week.

So upsetting that your not getting an accurate nightly reading. Fortunately for me the only time I don’t get a reading is when I don’t wear it 🤷🏻

This is my second Versa 2 ... supposedly. I contacted Fitbit about not getting a sleep score. I had my watch for about 2 months and it wouldn't give me a sleep score. They sent me the instructions to set up, and troubleshoot but nothing helped. I tried a couple of different things I saw online but it didn't solve the problem. I contacted Fitbit ... again after multiple emails back and forth ... telling them to either give me my money back or replace the watch. They did "replace" it but it's still not giving a sleep score. That's the reason I bought the Versa 2 was for the sleep score. So now I'm back to the way it was with the first Versa 2.
The excuse that it's not getting a good heart reading is bull!! If that was the case then I wouldn't be getting a heart rate at all or it would be sporadic. I just want it to work like it's supposed to!!
Frustrated!!! 😠

@ronicormier @Ecroker I have a very irregular behavior on Sleep Stages. Weirdly enough you have to keep experimenting. First thing that worked was a thin layer of skin ointment at night on the spot where your Fitbit touches your skin. But that worked well for a couple of weeks. The last solution I tried was putting my Fitbit about four fingers from my wristbone. Sleeps a bit weird and again this worked for two weeks. I feel like Fitbit changes the algorithm as soon as it works 😉

when I put lotion on after my shower at night, I make sure not to put lotion where my device sits on my arm. I don't want anything to interfere with it. What type of ointment are you using? The device sticks to my skin and it does cause a little irritation.
I just did a factory reset. It's updating as I type. I'll see what happens tonight. I'm so disillusioned with the device. It's a known problem with the Versa 2 so why haven't done anything to fix it?!

I started using a skin care ointment for a small 'sweat rash' and by accident I rubbed some of the ointment on my wrist, on the spot I wear my Versa 2. The next morning I was surprised seeing a Sleep Score. From then I started using the skin care *ointment (not a cream or gel, ointments have a higher concentration of oil) daily also on my wrist before I go to sleep and till today I saw my Sleep Score (for two weeks in a row) but then it stopped again.
One of the last responses from support was:"Please note that receiving sleep stages can be affected by a combination of your movement during sleep, HRV data, and personal physiology.", so I guess our "personal physiology" must be weird..
It's 'trail and error' I'm afraid..

I agree. I’ve now gone over a week without a sleep score. Mostly it breaks my night’s sleep into two smaller segments and the only show the famous colored bars but no score. I even delete one of the segments and enter the proper start or start time but I get nothing. My primary reason for the Versa is to track heart rate, monitor sleep score and track workouts. Since the sleep score doesn’t function, I’ll consider dumping the Fitbit and switching to Apple. My wife is having the same problem with her Charge 5.

I only get sleep scores and details a couple of days each week, and I don't know what I am doing differently those days to make it work.

It turns out that I just needed to stop telling my versa app that I was going to sleep. If I just let it do its own thing, it tracks it every night with a sleep score and all of the details.
