Versa 2 Overcounting of Steps and While Driving

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My fitbit  routinely overcounts my steps and counts while I am driving even in public transit like a metro/skytrain. I have reset the tracker multiple times, used an app to try and log drive time (which is incredibly annoying), measured my step distance, etc., etc., etc. The step count is almost completely useless to me at this point it completely overcount my distances and totals and it's very frustrating. It seems like this is an issue fitbit has had with the Versa 2 for some users for some time, as there are numerous forum posts that I have found that are marked as resolved, which, upon further investigation, were never actually resolved?

@fruscai Thanks for stopping by! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your Versa 2 over counting steps while driving or on your daily commute. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may move but you won't be actually walking. For example, this may happen when you are playing the drums, burping a baby or clapping. It can also happen while driving. As you already know you can negate these steps by logging a driving activity. You can try wearing your device on your non-dominant hand but select that hand as dominant on the device’s settings to make it less sensitive to movement.

If you wish to share any ideas on how to improve this then you can share your idea in our Feature Suggestions board. Search for the idea first to see if one already exists so you can add your vote. The more votes an idea gets the more likely the developers will try to implement it.

Let me know how it goes.
