Versa 2 Sport Band doesn't fit on the watch

Has anybody had an issue with the Versa 2 sport band not actually fitting the watch?
A few months ago I purchased an extra versa 2 sport band to have on hand when the weather got warmer. Today I went to change to that band and am unable to force the sport band into the slot on the watch where it is supposed to go. It is way, way too thick. I can get one end of the pin engaged in its hole but there is no way I can force the band far enough into the slot to engage the other end of the pin. When I look at the ends of the two bands (the one I just removed and the sport band), the sport band is about twice as thick.
Was there a bad batch of sport bands a few months ago?

Did you purchase the band through Fitbit or through another retailer?

 I ordered mine through Fitbit.com and my sport band does not fit either
