Versa 2 Will Not Sync with Pixel 2

My FitBit Versa will not sync with my new Pixel 2. I can get it to connect and sync initially, but it won't sync at all beyond that.

I've tried uninstalling the app, relinking everything, having all day sync on and off, using wi-fi and LTE.

After the initial connection, which I often have to try to initiate several times, it just never finds the Versa again.

What can be done to fix this? FitBit says it's compatible with Pixel 2 now, but I am not seeing that to be true.

Hi, maybe a stupid question: was your Versa in the charger and connected to you PC during setup procedure?

Not a stupid question 🙂

I have tried it both ways... I did a set up off the charger and on. I have not done charger connected to PC and on though...

Neither resolved the problem. It still will not sync beyond the initial connection.

Hi, in order to setup your Versa, its mandatory that the Versa is in the charger and being charged, e.g. connected to PC and try again. Good luck.

Oh the Versa is not new. The phone is.

My Versa has worked on my Apple iPhone 6 for over a year. When I moved to pair it with my Pixel 2, that is where it will not sync or connect any longer.

Yep, you have to do the setup all over again as advised with the Versa in the charger, etc. The Versa might not be new, but the Pixel is, not only as a device but also you changed from iOS to Android. Did you install the Fitbit app on your Pixel? Fitbit for Android is different from the one for Apple. Good luck!

Ahh this was not clear at all during the set up -- I will give it a shot tonight when I am home and see how it goes! If it fixes it I'll mark this solved!

The manual says it is not mandatory to be connected to a computer during setup.

P. 10 gives instructions for setting up with your phone or tablet. Then it says if you don't have one of those, you can use your computer.

Hi, in principle you're right about that, but I always advice this just for safety and to be certain that the Versa is charging. I've read a lot of messages about setting up problems with the Versa and found out that this usually is the solution. Safety does not harm and it's just a matter of interpretation. Next time maybe it's better to use advisable instead of mandatory.
